I think Royal is next on my list too... I believe you would love NCL - very laid back, but very nice ships. The crew has always been great. I found this great deal on Carnival, and who can pass up 8 days in the Caribbean on a cruise? I know I can't. I look forward to reading your review about Royal - maybe by then I will have another one booked!

Your review brought back memories of past cruises. I have a picture of the donkey named, Oprah. Sad to hear that she's in heaven now. I also remember the dog at Jack's Shack. He was too cute. I was impressed at how far out he was in the water, he was way past me and I was up to my neck. LOL! My friends and I were cracking up watching him dig holes and bury his head in the sand.

I don't even know where to start! I read your entire review sitting on my couch at home with 14 days until I sail away for an amazing 7 days on the Valor! I didn't think I could possibly be more excited until I read your review!!! This was the best ship review I have read on this site or anywhere, for that matter! My itinerary is different, but the parts about the ship & the food & whatnot were perfect! I'm doing the Western Caribbean.. Anyway.. It was soooo nice to read an in depth review, on the ship I will be on, from someone so close to my age! I'm 29. I'm super duper extra stoked about the nightlife/party scene on the ship!!!!! Lastly, I'd just like to add that I kinda wanna steal your wardrobe! LMAO!!!!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVED all the dresses for the dinners & the other outfits, too! That red dress was amazing!! So thank you so much for posting all of this! :)

Big part of our cruise entertainment and always interested to hear folk's thoughts about the casino.

 

Thanks again for an excellent review. I had read about Jack's Shack and thought we'd wander down; but wasn't sure how crowded it would be. I know now it's a "must do"! Is the beach free there if we are eating/drinking? (note to self: "get coupon"!)

Awwww, thanks for the kind words! You're going to have an awesome time. Part of the reason I love Carnival so much is because there's such an active night life. Between the shows, comedy club, piano bar, karaoke, dance club, casino, and all the other live music venues, you will NOT be bored! You're welcome to borrow all of my dresses. They've been hanging unworn in my closet since the cruise. I certainly hope you come back and post a review of your own. Is this your first cruise? What excursions do you have planned? HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!! :D

My mom enjoyed the casino. She only plays the slot machines. She more or less broke even during our cruise. I played video black jack and enjoyed it. I remember everyone (including me) being up, and then losing. The craps table, poker, and blackjack tables were always busy. You'll enjoy making nightly donations in there. :)

 

Jack's Shack had quite a few customers, but it wasn't at all crowded. There are a few lounge chairs there. I've read in other reviews Jack charges for them but I didn't have to pay anything. Margaritaville was CROWDED! I mean CROWDED! :eek: Go down to Jack's and enjoy the jerk chicken. It's sooooooo delicious! Be sure to save some money for a bottle of the rum you'll sample. A bottle of it at the duty free store was about $30.

I changed into some jeans and a tee right after dinner. (Can ya believe it? I still rocked my stilettos with my jeans though. :)) Not much was happening on the ship until the deck party. It started at 11:30 pm and was packed! It went on for at least an hour. We did all the usual line dances. Everson wanted to get this outrageously long conga line going. Wobble- I do. Cupid Shuffle- I do. Electric Slide- I do. But I don’t do conga! I went up and got some pictures instead.

 

 

 

 

The Mexican buffet was also tonight. I went and glanced at it. Nothing I was interested in, plus I was still full from dinner. The food did look good though, and there were lots of desserts. The disco was dead until about 1 am when it finally picked up. I headed to bed around 2:15.

 

Someone tell me what animal this is? :confused:
