Zuiderdam balcony question

Are the balcony doors on the Zuider sliders or regular doors? If its a door, does it prop open so we can enjoy the sea air or does it shut automatically? Does the air conditioning shut off when the door is open?

Thanks for any info. We leave in 12 hrs for our plane and cruise.

Regular doors that do not prop open but you can get them to stay open using a bungee cord. :)

Nope the AC doesn't shut off - leaving the door open actually screws up the AC...

 

I made the same mistake on our first night aboard Oosterdam - there was so much condensation on the AC unit from the humidity that we woke up to it raining inside our suite!!!

With our Suite on the Zuiderdam a couple of weeks ago, there was a sign asking you not to prop open the suite doors as it plays havoc with the air conditioning unit. To be comfortable, leave the doors closed, we found the outside air to be very humid, so the air conditioning inside the cabin was a welcome relief.
