Santa Cruz (Tenerife) - taxi to Mt Teide?

Is it possible to take a taxi from the port to Mt Teide? Approximately what should we expect to pay?

 

If we take a tour (bought on dock) instead of a taxi I am assuming they wait on you to ride the cable car up/down the mountain?

it is quite a long way from Santa cruz to the top of Teide. Sorry, I don't know how much a taxi will cost. However, it would be cheaper to hire a car for the day than take a taxi.

 

You will probably get a better response if you put your question on the tenerife Forum of Tripadvisor. You could also ask for details of local excursion agencies.

Due to a mix-up with our plan to rent a car in Tenerife we ended up hiring a taxi for a day tour that went up to Mount Teide then made a couple stops in smaller towns, the names of which I don't remember but they were nice. The tour lasted around 8 hours and I believe we paid 150 euros.

I would like to know if you can take a local cheap tour to go to mt teide, How much would it be to rent a car or just rent a taxi?
