Thoughts on booking a Balcony on Deck 9

Have never booked a room/balcony on Deck 9. Usually always book on deck 7 midship balcony or deck 7 aft balcony.

Can those of you who have stayed on deck 9 give your opinions please? Is noise an issue?

Any difference in being closer to the front in an 8D balcony versus closer to the mid in an 8E?

All comments/feedback is appreciated!!!!!

I've had Lido Deck balcony cabins and loved them. The location is outstanding... so close to all the fun!

I don't think you would notice a ton of difference between the more forward cabins and the ones closer to midships... they're all pretty forward.

Most deck 9 cabins I have had have been the Lido deck, but on the Dream and Magic Deck 10 is Lido....

I love Lido deck cabins, excellent location!!!!! Noise, not really an issue...heck, best Lido deck cabin to get is the very last cabin because if you look on the deck plans there is no cabins above you or on one side. All you have is a cabin below and to the one side.

You don't say which ship, but if your question is for a balcony on Lido deck, it's great! We really ike the location and the convenience. Noise was not an issue, other than the people in the hallway occ. being loud.

Thanks so much for all the replies.

Looking at the Freedom. Was mainly worried about hall/lido deck noise.

Glad to hear no diff in more forward balconys versus more midship......have a grp trying to book together.

We had a lido cabin on our last cruise on the Conquest.

we liked it so much, we booked the same room for our January cruise. You're close to all the action, and noise wasn't an issue for us. you're also high enough up that you have a good view during sea days.

We have sailed the Freedom twice - both times on deck 9 - love the location and the noise was no different than any other deck......Enjoy!

Just checked out of room 9275 on the Splendor. When we first arrived I was very worried about the noise level. Now if you go to bed early you might not like being so close to Lido, but they close most of the extra doors to the rooms after 10. Even on the night they had party's out there I heard not a sound after 10....aside from the extremely loud passion screams from my neighbor one night. I would book there again..

Did you feel any movement from the sea being forward? We are used to being right at the midship elevators for the most part......

So quick for food, movies etc and able to dash in for something you forgot while sunning. In fact day of embarkation being where cabins are, we stored our carry-ons in our cabin closet no problem lugging them around & waiting for 1:30pm, (but left no valuables-just soda and few items we brought on).We just dropped them off and left to not get in room stewards way. Other cabins on ship have fire doors closed for access. So this is a perk of lido deck! But just pop in and leave..be courteous)

Usually ship design has you leaving lido area & then you go through the automatic sliding glass doors, there are metal doors to your right to access cabin hallway(if you are on 9217-9201 side) and vice-versa other side. The doors close completely and make it really quiet. Some people are rude and leave metal door open, and I repeatedly closed it when I noticed it open as keeps hallway cooler too.

The only cabins I would avoid are: 9269-9277 and same on opposite side -those closet to elevator intersection where loudest (near the glass elevators overlooking atrium -marked in pink on deck map). Seems the music from the lobby (level 3) goes right up this area and depending on band at night (rock most noticeable) you may likely hear the music in your cabin, you can also hear some from lido area that comes in through glass area and kinda funnels straight through, but not as much.

Ironically those closer to the door are actually quieter as hallyway is closed (usually by metal door unless someone leaves it open) or further down hall away from central glass elevator area.

Hoep this is clear and helps.

the only time the movement was an issue was the second to last night, we were in what the captain called "the outter bands" of the disturbance that is about to hit mexico and had some pretty rough seas, it was felt everywhere on the ship. the pool was literally sloshing back and forth so they had to close it, by morning about half its water was out.

It was not enough to make anyone around me sick and it didn't keep me from sleeping at all, just twas rocked a bit on those rough sea days. I actually felt movement more down on 5 sitting on casino chairs that anywhere else

WOW...thanks for all the help. ?....what about the rooms at the end 9294 before entering pool area. What is that opening on the deck plans? Are there metal doors that close at night. Would these rooms hear much noise?

Thank you so much for the detailed info
