Tampa/San Juan- St. Thomas, Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Kitts, St. Maarten.

April 15, 2012.

I was wondering if you could tell what are the best snorkeling destinations or excursions of these 5 islands. I'm asking cause I can't do them all so I would like to do 2-3 of the best ones.

Also if anyone knows a decent 3 star hotel in a not too bad part of town that's $100 or so a night. Doesn't need to be right in San Juan, I have no problem taking a taxi to the port.

Thanks

For San Juan, We got the Hilton for $65/n, thru priceline. It was a great price for a very nice resort hotel.

We've been to some of those islands where I went diving and my wife/friend snorkeling.

St. Thomas, Coki Beach was very nice. Good snorkeling right at the beach. Also can try Discovery scuba there. I went boat diving and was quite good.

St Lucia, need to get on a boat to see the pitons. The diving/snorkeling were both good. One site we went to was Superman's flight. We asked for it way ahead, and the boat agreed to go.

Barbados, decent diving/snorkeling. In front of Sandy Lanes resort, the snorkeling did not see a lot of coral/fish, but saw several large turtles. Another site was better for diving/snorkeling.

St. Thomas was good, but you can catch the water shuttle to St. John's and Megan's Bay for better snorkeling.

St Maartin, I've tried snorkeling and I've tried diving. I prefer to just take the tour out to Orient Beach and chill on the sand for the day.

While you are on Puerto Rico, check with the hotel concierge and set up a trip on one of the bioluminescent sea kayaking trips. That is amazing.

We found snorkeling at Sapphire beach in St Thomas to be awesome. It was one of the best days we had and didn't want to leave. The snorkeling was right off the beach and you could go out really far and it still not be too deep. There was a nice variety of fish and coral. We would go back in a heartbeat.

Here's my review with a link at the bottom to pictures. :)
