We called there last year .We were cruising from Cape Town on the Queen Mary. For me it was the highlight of the cruise. So much history and Jonathan the 150 + year old tortoise . The locals were all by the harbour with their cars and farm vehicles to take people around the island we were really lucky and went in an open top car from the 1920s .Had tea and cake in the church and talking to some of the islanders there seemed to be a lot of mixed feelings about having an airport .Would love to put photos on but don't know how .
