Land based casinos Fort Lauderdale

Has anyone here had any experience with land based casinos in the Fort Lauderdale area? We're cruising in a couple of months and would like to spend a few days precruise and have my brother from Arizona join us (they don't cruise much because SIL gets violently seasick ) They'd come if there was a decent casino in the area, most likely not if there wasn't. He's a craps player, and she's a sports book enthusiast.

I know nothing about casinos in Florida, so any info appreciated.

Shalom. Andy.

Andy,

There are 3 casino's that I know of in the Ft. Lauderdale area but unfortunately they don't have Craps, Roulette, or Sports Book. I'm not positive about the sports book.

They have slots, blackjack, and poker. The biggest one is the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and it's very close to the airport and port.

They are all owned by the Seminole Indian tribe.

Thanks Smitty. I checked out the website and it looks good to me... kind of like a little Foxwoods with a different (!!) approach to music:o:o

Now... if I can convince little bro to play blackjack...

Shalom,. Andy

They do have some great shows there from time to time, but I'm into Doo Wop.

The Seminole Hard Rock casino in Hollywood Fl is the largest in South Florida. Pretty impressive place, but I don't play slots.

The only place to find a legal sports book in the United States is in the State of Nevada

Well, kids, I have better news....

Hallandale, a nice suburb 10 minutes south of the airport and cruiseport has 2 good casinos, close to each other. One is at the Gulfstream Racetrack. The other is at the old Hollywood Dog Track, which is running Greyhounds once more. Both have live poker. Woo Hoo.
