Onboard currency exchange

We are doing a South American itinerary and wondered if the purser's desk will exchange Chile/pesos into Peru/sols onboard?

Most likely not, based on purser experiences with other local currencies.

The ship will bring on board am bank that will do exchanges of the country you are visiting. e Did this in South America a few times. You can always go to a mac machine there cost is very high. f Seabourn does the exchange there cost are even higher

I find the onboard currency exchange has more convenience for me than bothering to have to find a cash point. Then I am set to go if I need a cab or some post cards. Not like I exchange a large amount of money. Later on, if i need more, I can use my credit card or find a cash point. My Capital One bank card doesn't charge a fee for foreign currency conversion.

Excellent point about Capital One CC, AE and all the other cards charge a fee, even my bank ATM charges a foreign currency fee.

Two separate and distinct bank charges :

 

Foreign Transaction Fee and ATM Use Fee.

I should have said, my Bank ATM charges a Foreign Transaction Fee plus the local (foreign) ATM fee. Not forgiven by private banking...Capital One is the only one without a fee.
