Why do costs change by region?

I see some pretty dramatic variations in cost by region. Using a popular travel site (cheapest balcony):

July Med on the Grand = $282 per day

July Northern Europe on the Golden = $210 per day

March West Carib on the Grand = $157

 

I understand the that exchange would account for a 30% difference (Euro vs. dollar), but that only covers part of it. Is it just a matter of what the market will bare? Are the Med cruises super popular? Tnx,
