Balmoral Deck plans

When running your mouse over the cabins on Highland Deck of the Balmoral Deck Plans it highlights what each catagory is except for numbers 1023 and 1026. What sort of cabins are these two?

They are the "owner's" cabins and are not usually available for booking. If you look at them in the brochure you can see that they do not have a colour code and that they are truly enormous. If Fred Olsen Jr or someone important joins the cruise then that is where they will stay. "Ordinary" cruisers can be upgraded to one of these cabins but they would have almost certainly booked a suite on that deck anyway. The reason I know all this is because we were recently upgraded from a cabin on deck 9 to cabin 1025 which is next door to one of the special cabins and we were able to chat to the occupants across the balcony. Our suite was much smaller but had a bow window from which you could see right down to the front of the ship.

Thanks for the info re the cabins. I have booked a SS catagory guarantee so with a bit of luck I might get a visit from the upgrade fairy :D

The SS cabins get free decanters of whisky, gin and brandy so you won't go short of booze. Our suite didn't qualify for that because we were just a balcony suite at the end of all the SS cabins. Nevertheless we were almost next door to the Avon restaurant and had one of the best views on the ship.

I'm afraid it's the lift. I'm certain hubby will be very popular with all that booze in the cabin.

Balmoral on the 17th November 2011 to the Canary Isles--this sounds like a nice ship--glad theres a lift!!--travelling alone in a Lido Deck cabin :)

Oh yes, so it is! I knew it had to be one or the other because it traverses all the passenger decks. But a stairwell is better than a lift as it will be less noisy. :D

I don,t think you will have any noise from it ,I was near that area not long ago and it was quiet .Although I must say your cabin is an odd shape.:)

we were right next to the lifts on Black Watch and never heard a thing. We have also been right next to stairwells and again heard nothing.just been looking at the deck plan a very strange shape. If anyone ever stays in that cabin they must post a picture of it....

When I first started cruising I seemed to get regular upgrades but then I went through a very lean patch lasting several years during which the upgrades disappeared completely. Then I was upgraded from deck 9 to deck 10 for the cruise I took in July and I have been upgraded from deck 4 to deck 5 for my long cruise in January next year.

we are in an SS cabin on Boudicca in january ,and they do not get this set up-sorry. You have to go higher than SS to get this perk.

I've just checked the brochure and the cabins who had the free booze were actually PS. I hadn't realised I was in such a posh area!
