CarolRoy Posted October 27, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 27, 2011 Has anyone gone from the cruise ship in OSJ to Escambron Beach? Can we walk to it, take a city bus, or taxi? Or do you know of any beaches close by? We will be in OSJ on HAL Westerdam on 12/7/11. Thanks for any info. Carol 2011 – Westerdam HAL – Dec. – E. ajilimojil Posted October 28, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 28, 2011 Perhaps this will answer your questions (quick Google search provided the info): <<Balneario El Escambron (Escambron Beach) is the closest beach to Old San Juan, at the Third Millennium Park , just to the west of the Normandie Hotel (and Caribe Hilton). The beach is within easy walking distance of the Normandie and Carib Hilton hotels, though from Old San Juan I’d recommend taking the local bus or a taxi. The beach is crescent shaped with calm waters due to the coral reef just off shore. In 2007 is was named as one of Puerto Rico’s Blue Flag beaches and is open daily between 8:30am – 5pm with lifeguards on duty. During winter months (September – March). The beach is closed Mondays and Tuesdays (no lifeguards and facilities are closed, but you can still use the beach). The reef provides an opportunity to snorkel and there is plenty of shade when you need to take a break from the sun. Facilities at Escambron Beach include: Outdoor showers Restrooms Escambron Beach Club restaurant Local vendors Picnic tables Paid parking is available for $4 – use the entrance to the Third Millennium Park >>

Do you know what bus number we would take from the pier to get to Escambron Beach or how much a taxi would be? Carol 2011 – Westerdam HAL – Dec. – E.
