NYC to Bermuda-Crown?

Recommended Posts

We just got off the Crown last week .We did a repo from Miami to Phil.Pa.
The food was ok.We ate in the Pasta cafe where we enjoyed it.The Le Bistro was wonderful. At the buffet you had to be served, they didnt want anyone touching anything.
I dont know if you have been on any other cruiseship. But this is a small ship.We found the casino staff to be very friendly.
The pool is small.Entertainment was good. But we find that you make your own good time.with a small ship you get to meet a lot more people then on the bigger ones.
We were in room 9078 in the aft part of the ship.we did not feel any of the seas that people talked about. It was an inside cabin with a little passageway.
We found that some of the food staff was not as friendly as on other ships.Hopefully that will change by the time you go.

HAPPY SAILING

I would love to leave from NY and go to Bermuda. The only reason I have second thoughts is because it seems only the older ships have this Itinerary;I do like the newer ships.
I'm also hooked on freestyle but would consider Princess because of personal choice dining.
Is The Zenith and Crown the only 2 ships that go to Bermuda from NY?
Thanks, Linda

you won't get the newer ships going to bermuda because the newer ships are JUST TOO BIG to sail to bermuda. the shores of bermuda are too shallow and the reefs that surround her make tendering very difficult.

THAT'S why you won't see the newer mega ships. now if they build a new smaller ship the size of Crown and HAL's Zenith and Horizon...then i guess that would be to your liking.

RCCL's Empress of the Seas is their overhualed Nordic Empress. We took the Nordic Empress last year to Bermuda and it was great. Again, we wanted a balcony room that most other Bermuda ships don't offer. I think Carnival does, but we are not Carnival fans. After the refurb this month, the Nordic Empress will be renamed the Empress of the Seas. Their balcony cabins (which they do not have many) will then become suites. I think that out of all the ships we found going to Bermuda, RCCL offered the best ship for our liking. Be warned, smaller ships mean more rocken and rollen out at sea. The Nordic Empress bounced around a lot. Actually, we found it fun. Watching everyone walking around like they had too much to drink. We kept popping Bonine, so it didn't bother us at all. The ship, food and service was great. Most enjoyable.

Kuppy Kat:

Am also from SI. We sailed on QE2 the past two years to Bermuda and this year wil be on the Radison Navigator June 2nd to Bermuda. We have a window suite (301 sq feet) and with port charges and insurance the total cost is $1,916.00/pp. This includes tips, a fully stocked bar with premium liquor and unlimited water/soft drinks - also umlimited wine with dinner.

We also looked at the Crown and Celebrity, but for all we are getting for this price it was a no brainer.

Enjoyed your review of the Dawn (we sailed June 8, 2003 and are slated to sail again 4/17/05).

legalcruiser- Empress of the Seas has 56 balcony cabins on deck 9. They are called Junior Suites. In the Nordic Empress brochure their early booking price was $200. pp person higher than the next Ocean View stateroom.
