Taxi Costs and Sharing???????

We were in St Kitts last year, but did a private cooking class. In December, we hope to just walk off the ship and take a taxi to either Cockleshell or South Friars beach. Question: Do the taxi people join people together for rides to the beach, or is each couple "on their own". It seems as though in Antigua, the taxi dispatcher was assigning couples to share taxis, which lowered the price per person. Any advice/info is welcome. Thank you.

We used a taxi when everyone was getting off the ship in the morning. They did not offer to put us with anyone else.
