Hard-habit-to-break Posted October 30, 2011 #1 Share Posted October 30, 2011 Anyone have any recommendations for a nice cafe or restaurant near Circular Quay for breakfast? Normally I would ferry it to Manly but not in the mood this time, so looking for something fairly close to the OPT, on a Sunday, or perhaps The Rocks? Thanks :)
Hot Chilli Posted October 30, 2011 #2 Share Posted October 30, 2011 We always go to Pancakes on the Rocks. It's not gourmet by any stretch but it's quick, easy & doesn't completely blow the budget (as many places in that area can!!!). Plus if you have kids they will love it. It's only about a minute walk from the OPT.
The_Big_M Posted October 30, 2011 #3 Share Posted October 30, 2011 A reliable standby is City Extra which is in the centre of Circular Quay. Here's their menu to give you an idea of what's available. http://www.cityextra.com.au/MenusCircularQuayBreakfastSpecials/628/n/3/0/0/
Rare Acrusa Posted October 30, 2011 #4 Share Posted October 30, 2011 Booked into the Park Hyatt in February any of these places close by?
cjm66 Posted October 30, 2011 #5 Share Posted October 30, 2011 Booked into the Park Hyatt in February any of these places close by? Circular Quay is a 10-15 minute walk from the Park Hyatt. 10 if you are power walking and 15+ if you are strolling slowly while enjoying the views along the harbour board walk. There are several cafes serving breakfast at Circular Quay - most with outdoor seating where you can enjoy watching the less fortunate catch ferries to work. The rocks area is closer. It is also worth splurging on a late and lazy breakfast at the Hyatt itself - provided they have retained the sunny aspect and harbour views for the restaurant as part of the renovations. If so bag a widow table and enjoy! You could also use the provided coffee maker, add some fresh pastries and fruit and enjoy the view from your balcony if you have a sunny aspect. Definitely a cheap option but the food is absolutely delicious and it's a fun experience for the kids. :)

ladybird1292 Posted October 31, 2011 #8 Share Posted October 31, 2011 Hi All, we will be staying in Macquarie Street, close to the Circular Quay the day before our cruise on a Sunday. Can anyone recommend a place to eat for dinner. It has to be child friendly as we have our preteen daughter with us. I have been told to look at Circular Quays/the Rocks area, and do we need to book? :)
Hot Chilli Posted October 31, 2011 #9 Share Posted October 31, 2011 Pancakes on the Rocks also does dinner. So does City Extra. The Lowenbrau @ The Rocks is very child friendly. We took our 2 kids there (both under 5). They could make as much noise & mess as they liked and no one cared. The food is not gourmet but you won't leave hungry that's for sure. No bookings are taken for Pancakes on the Rocks but you can book The Lowenbrau. http://www.lowenbrau.com.au/ http://pancakesontherocks.com.au/home
Hard-habit-to-break Posted October 31, 2011 Author #10 Share Posted October 31, 2011 Thanks everyone. I would love pancakes but hubby isn't keen for breakfast. City extra is our usual standby for when we don't go to Manly so we will probably just end up there.:)

Hot Chilli Posted November 1, 2011 #13 Share Posted November 1, 2011 looking more for a chocolate crousant and coffee then a big breakfast. There are a couple of Bakeries with seating & coffee along George St in The Rocks (the street right behind the Cruise Terminal). That would be your best bet for a light breakfast.
