earljr Posted November 8, 2011 #1 Share Posted November 8, 2011 Hi all -- DW and I are 2 star Mariners but have not cruised with Hal since the "80's. We have booked the Ryndam for a 14 day cruise out of Tampa in January. We would like to know how HAL conducts their tours. Do we all meet in a announced staging area? How do we get to the bus, etc. Appreciate info on the procedure. Thanx.
jtl513 Posted November 8, 2011 #2 Share Posted November 8, 2011 It varies. Most of the time you meet in the show lounge to get color/number stickers put on your shirt, then the whole group goes when called. Other times you meet on shore, and you look for the person holding the right sign. The tickets for anything you pre-book (before boarding) will be (or should be) in your room, and they will specify the meeting place and time. Once the group has all gathered you're taken to the bus or buses together. Tickets are collected at the bus. We really liked the Ryndam ... hope you do too. the2ofus Posted November 8, 2011 #3 Share Posted November 8, 2011 The only thing I can add is that, depending on the port you may have a long or short hike to get to your tour bus. Sometimes they can come right to the pier, other times they have to wait outside the gate to the port. If it is a water tour the same thing applies, maybe right beside the ship, maybe a long walk. Also note that rain doesn't change the plan. Bring a small umbrella or poncho in case your port is rainy.
