In your opinion..best beach in St Maarten?

Weighing up Shore Excursions for St Maarten, looking probably at some sort of sailing trip which combines snorkel and beach time as we have one snorkeller who loves being out on the water and one beach lover!

 

Orient Beach, Golden Eagle Island, Little Bay, Simpsons Bay, Mullet Beach, Shipwreck Cove?....which would be your "must do" and which is "give it a miss"?

We think one of the real plusses of St Maarten are the variety of beaches. In fact we are currently planning a 2 week visit to the island and will probably go to at least 6 or 7 beaches during the trip. It is really one of those different strokes for different folks issues since much is personal taste. For example, if we want to snorkel off a beach and the seas are relatively calm we would go to Dawn Beach. If we want to relax in a beach chair, have a nice beach for swimming, and want to people watch we would go to Orient. If on a cruise ship and we want a no-hassle day where we can enjoy the beach and shopping we might just take the water taxi accross the bay and get a chair on the downtown beach. And there are other times we might just drive around the island and look for a small beach that is relatively empty of other souls.
