HAL and price drops

My upcoming cruise on Holland America, Amsterdam, 14 Day Alaska voyage will be my first on this line. I know that for some of the other cruise lines, if there is a price drop between the time of booking and the time of the cruise that the line will offer OBC's or some other compensation for the difference. Does Holland America? If so, where should I watch for this?

You should be able to get the price drop if it's before final payment. Some posters have been able to get OBC's after final payment but it's doesn't seem consistant. I usually watch for price drops by doing a pretend booking on the HAL website.

lorekauf is correct and seemingly the decision about category upgrades or OBC's past final payment are considered on a case-by-case basis so wouldn't count on getting either should you price drop post final payment.

We got a price-drop *before final payment* by having our TA ask HAL to "re-fare" the cruise.

 

So far after final payment the price hasn't dropped. It was rock bottom already, so I don't expect it to.

 

I have seen some people on this board get OBC or an upgrade after final payment when there was a price drop, but that doesn't seem to be a guarantee. Alaska cruises are very popular, so I don't know if I would expect to see a drop or not. Keep checking the HAL site, though, just in case. Good luck!
