Wow!! We just disembarked from the Westerdam this morning, and it was a lovely cruise! We were informed of the outbreak by the Captain on Friday, and the crew spent that night disinfecting the ship. From that point on we were not permitted to serve ourselves at the Lido, and no salt and pepper shakers on the tables in the dining room. Other than that, we were never aware of a serious problem. I am surprised that passengers were given the option of canceling their cruise. The problem was obviously more significant than we knew about.

The Westerdam did sail out today right after the Allure of the Seas. The Nieuw Amsterdam left ahead of the Allure of the Seas. I watched it all from the live Camera at Port Everglades.

I am on board now. My family joined me (I was on last week). They were not given an option for cash back... Not that they would have.

I just disembarked the Ryndam Sunday the 20th. We had a bad outbreak of the Norovirus for 15 days of our 17-day transatlantic cruise. 110 of 1188 (9.26%) of the passengers were reported ill along with 9 crew members. The CDC boarded the ship for our last two days and I understand the sailing of the 20th was delayed while the ship was sanitized. Maybe they are taking extra pecautions so it doesn’t happed on any of HAL’s other ships.
