griffy116 Posted August 15, 2013 #27 Share Posted August 15, 2013 Getting on and off the ship in Italy is amazingly fast and painless. Unfortunately, you will be getting on and off the ship in one of the most disorganized ports of all. I'm not sure what the problem is, but there is always something that delays everything. As far as getting off the ship later, rather than earlier, I think it's pretty depressing to just sit there on the ship. You can't go to your cabin. The public areas are a mess, full of people and luggage. The shops are closed, pools are closed and you have to drag your own stuff around others with their stuff, all congregated in specific public areas. You have few options. I'd rather just get off the ship and start the long, sad journey back to the real world and reality. It's going to happen eventually. They will drag you off the ship kicking and screaming if necessary :(. Seeing the disgusted look of those waiting to get on the ship while you stroll off is bad enough, but if security is escorting you, it's gets ugly. elaine5 Posted August 15, 2013 #28 Share Posted August 15, 2013 is there a possibility to self debark in FLL at an earlier time if you only have hand baggage?
snubile Posted September 4, 2013 #29 Share Posted September 4, 2013 is there a possibility to self debark in FLL at an earlier time if you only have hand baggage? I think the answer is yes but not sure. We had an afternoon flight home (1:30pm) and thought we had plenty of time. Jetblue changed our flights, we now depart FLL for home at 10:25 am! YIKES< cutting it a bit close but not sure we have any options.
kimbjohns0n Posted January 21, 2015 #30 Share Posted January 21, 2015 I am sailing on Liberty of the Seas out of Ft Lauderdale on 03/19/15. I too am wondering about what time is a good time to arrive to the port. I hear the port is a nightmare and that they have extremely long lines. We are coming in the night before so I didn't know if later was better or earlier. Obviously we want to start our vacation as soon as possible lol!
