readytoembark Posted November 27, 2011 #1 Share Posted November 27, 2011 We’re booked on an RCI Mediterranean cruise next year. In making a cruise selection, we ruled out any cruise that stopped in Egypt. However, looking at current Mediterranean itineraries seems like ships are still planning on stopping there. Just curious. Was wondering what the current impact of unrest had on cruise bookings. Are there others who selected a cruise based on a decision to avoid Egyptian destinations (for the near future) or changed cruise plans because of the recent unrest? I was wondering if there was an increased demand for non-Egypt destinations, if it would impact the price of non-Egyptian Mediterranean cruises. grgsuch Posted November 27, 2011 #2 Share Posted November 27, 2011 We had no desire to go that way. We stayed western because of all the problems there.
Rare Lionesss Posted November 28, 2011 #3 Share Posted November 28, 2011 If the area is at unrest...........do you really think passengers are going to want to leave the safety of the ship to explore in a country with so much violence. There are other ports that want money, and will be willing to take a cruise ship in port. Safe travels. Who knows where this unrest will go.............. I only hope it ends soon. pjsatc86 Posted November 28, 2011 #4 Share Posted November 28, 2011 I sure wouldn't want to go to Egypt right now. I would believe that rci and other cruise lines would do what they have done in the past and just skip the Egypt port of call.
msw1023 Posted November 28, 2011 #5 Share Posted November 28, 2011 with the pending crash of the Euro, I'm not sure I'm ready to consider the Med right now. I've always wanted to go there.
