Cruise port of Freemantle to Perth International?

Our cruise docks in Freemantle 0600 Friday morning and our flight leaves Perth International at 2230 that night.

Anyone any ideas on how to spend our last day - bearing in mind we will have 3 suitcases and hand luggage?

How much would it cost in a taxi? Is there anywhere to store luggage? Would car hire be our best bet?

Any ideas welcome.........

Cost of a taxi from Fremantle port to Perth airport is around $60. The advantage of a hire car is that it gives you somewhere to store your luggage while you sightsee. You would have to check on line to see where you could pick up a hire car. There could be cars available in Fremantle, but if you have to pick up from Perth, the city would be closer than the airport.

Thanks for your reply. Do you know if there are any car hire agencies at the port? If not, which agency would be the nearest to the port?

I'm sure there are none at the port. I have cruised in and out of Fremantle a few times and there are no services such as hire cars. There could be a depot in Fremantle itself and they may deliver the car to the cruise terminal for you. It is worth asking.

There are rental cars at Fremantle.

We got one on our holiday this year and returned it to Perth airport.

By the time you pick up car and go through paperwork it may not be worth it.

BY Taxi is cheaper for 2 people to the airport than by shuttle for 2 people and more convenient.

There are not a lot of Taxis in Fremantle and by the time you disembark and get one you might be surprised at how little day you have left.

On our recent cruise we had to line up and wait for a taxi for nearly an hour.

You could be picked up at cruise terminal by rental agency and arrange to return car to PERTH- I think we had Hertz last time and whoever we had were excellent.

You have to allow for time disembarking.

Some rental car offices do not open that early either- but usually about by 9 am. We found in Fremantle that nobody hurries to get to work.

Just a suggestion you could get the train into Perth took us thirty minuets and cost $3 each then catch a cab $28 to the airport, train is just right of the dock as you leave the ship, the train station is huge at perth so they may have a place you could leave your luggage while you sightsee , kings park is a must hope that helps. We did this in October this year so the info is up to date

You would need to be at the airport by about 1930 which gives you a large chunk of the day to use to have a look around while you are in Perth.

In my opinion if you are confident of driving I think it would be feasible to hire a car as you could keep the luggage in there.

The suggestion of Kings Park is excellent as it is a beautiful place with a view of the magnificent Swan River ,Perth, the hills and also lots of native gardens in the park itself. There is also a top notch Restaurant there as well depending whether it is within your budget.

Before you go to Kings Park you could have a look around Fremantle and along our magnificent beaches.

You can easily book hire cars on line and ask them if they can deliver to the port. Otherwise it may be close to the hire shop anyway.

The other option could be to get a local tour guide but I have no idea on costs and availability. You could find out about a guide on Trip advisor.

Good luck
