J.A. Jance has written a great book to read on your Seattle to Alaska cruise -

"Birds of Prey". It's a murder mystery featuring the detective from Seattle. You'll see local areas mentioned and the characters may be taking the same excursions you are scheduled for. It's an easy read.

On this same vein, I took a couple of Alaska murder mysteries on our Alaska cruise last summer. The first was on "Murder on the Inside Passage" by Sue Henry -- it mentioned so many of the places we were stopping at that it was great. The other one, forget the title, was by Dana Stabenow, featuring a native Alaskan female. Great series!
