no fuss travel Posted December 2, 2011 #1 Share Posted December 2, 2011 For those who have sailed from Valparaiso to Rio de Janeiro or the other way around, how cool was the temperature around the tip of South America? I am just wondering what we should pack for layers for warmth and if we need to pack gloves. We will be having hot weather in Rio and Santiago and then ???? Paulchili Posted December 2, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 2, 2011 Think of North Cape in the summer - on a sunny day, it is very pleasant. On a blustery, rainy, windy day - you would need layers. Ditto for the southern tip of SA. We had beautiful sunny days (in both places - short sleeve weather on North Cape) and smooth seas around the Cape Horn. :) No way to predict that - best to be ready for both. Point of reference: Cape Horn about 55 degrees South Anchorage 61 degrees North
no fuss travel Posted December 2, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted December 2, 2011 Thanks Paul. A summer day for us then so we will not need to take heavier clothes. We will be leaving in the middle of our winter so will have a heavier jacket with us anyhow, plus gloves, toque.
