Upgraded to C&A Plat after Two Cruises

Recommended Posts

Many thanks to RCCL. We received a letter at home yesterday indicating we were now platinum members after our second cruise. Yes one was in an OS the other a JS, so they have got a fair amount of revenue from us. But now thanks to their strategy, they have also created some very loyal customers who will now endeavor to cruise RCCl at all times.

Do they do this often?

C&A status is determined by cruise credits, which isn't necessarily the number of actual cruises. If one of your trips was over 12 days, then you accumulated 5 credits in 2 cruises - one credit for the cruise, an additional credit for booking a suite and an additional credit for an over-12 day cruise. You can get a maximum of 3 credits per trip. We made Diamond after 7 cruises.

Welcome to Platinum!:D

Sometimes I think they just screw up.

I was elevated to Platinun status after two 7 day cruises. And I had the lowest category inside cabin on both cruises so I don't think cruise length or cabin category plays any role in it.

I've been reaping the rewards ever since!!!

Sorry I should have been clearer. The point of my post was that I didn't qualify the regular way. I should have only 3 credits- two 7 day cruises and one suite credit for suite cruise in 2005.

Depending on when your cruise in the JS was you got double credit for that one also, which would make 4 credits. But you are right, still not the normal amount required. Sometimes ya just get lucky!;)

The JS Cruise was in 2003 so I don't think that is it. Again I should have been clearer -the letter seemed to indicate that it was because of our history not so much a mistake. Could it be that between the two cruise costs and onboard spending we have paid RCCL over $17,000? I think that may be part of it-the computer looks for large cruise costs/onboard bills and tries to lock these people in to future scruising on their line only by throwing them a little perk early such as Platinum C&A?

Just back. Gold coupons are 50 per cent off drink coupon, 10 per cent off spa, free no surcharge to Johnny Rockets, photo coupon, 2 for l bingo coupon, $12 in coin for $10 at the casino. One for wine, but I don't remember details. When we left we left all of the coupons we didn't use because we had four books from our B2B in the safe for the next guests.

As well as the coupons listed by Weechloe (tks), there is one for: Seattle's best coffee, receive a 25% discount on any coffee beverage: Bottle of wine discount, receive a 10% discount on any second bottle of wine under $50: Casino Credit, $5.00 Match Play casino cert.: Complimentary wine tasting seminar, wine tasting certificate valid on sailings of 7 nights or longer: And the buy one photo get the second free, is actually a free picture that has been taken by RCCL (one of the ship is what we chose), I thought at first we could get a photo of ourselves for free, but if you read the small print.........its actually one of RCCL's photos. Still very nice to have though!! :p

I also just got a letter and was upgraded to Platinum after 4 cruises, no suites, but all Balcony cabins. Made me quite happy because we are booked on a cruise in June and now we have priority boarding and we are a very large group, 7 cabins, and our flights come in early so we should be on the boat quite early. Looking forward to the other benefits its provides. As much as I loved all of my Carnival cruises, they never offer much for pasts guests which is why I like RCCL, at least you feel like they are rewarding you for continiuing to come back to them.

Oh yeah, one other thing, on my first RCCL cruise I hap my laptop with my. On the third night someone mentioned the Crown and Anchor program and when we went back to the cabin we signed everyone up, we had 5 cabins back then. To our surprise the next day we got an invitation to the past guest party, I guess when you sign up it goes into the system right away.

They must have changed the picture coupons since Dec. cause I was on the Majesty then, when I used my coupon it was buy 1 get the 2nd of equal size free. Needless to say I bought the 8x10 & got another 8x10 pose free.

Regarding the 2 credits for booking suites and for longer cruises:

1. Do you have to book through RCCL to receive these extra credits? I'm sure you have to enter your C&A number while booking, right?

2. When do they give you your props...at embarkation?

You don't have to book directly with RCCL to get the double credit for booking a suite. Just be sure you give your TA your C&A number at some point prior to sailing. If by "Prop" you mean the coupon book, your cabin steward will give it to you on the first day. You usually need to sign for it.

I know that one of the Platinum benefits is $100 balcony (and up) discount. If we have already booked cruise(s) that will take place after we get that 5th cruise credit moving us from Gold to Platinum, will they give us that discount on the upcoming cruises?

They will apply any discounts you have coming based on C&A level AFTER you acheive that level.

In other words, if you call now and say "I have two cruises booked, the first one will elevate me to diamond status, so give me credit for diamond status on the second one." They will say, "AFTER you reach diamond status, call us, and we will apply any credits you have coming to your second cruise at that time".

I just wanted to say that I think it's a fantastic idea to leave behind your unused coupons for the next party in the cabin. I would imagine that the stewards would throw them out when they clean out the safe, but it sure would be nice if they didn't. Maybe we as a CC community can all agree to leave them in the back of the 'about this ship' book or somewhere similar so those sailing after us can reap the benefits. :p

Good for you, I have booked 5 rooms over 3 cruises and am still at the basic level, I have 2 more rooms booked next week and with my luck will still be listed as 4 credits and basic service, oh well at least I am still cruising.

I have a question about the cruise credits. I have a JS cabin booked for a 12-night cruise in October. I was told that is good for 2 cruise credits, which will bring me up to 5. C&A told me that the maximum number of credits you can get per cruise, even if you stay in a suite for 10+ nights, is 2.

Critterchick indicated above that you can get 3 cruise credits for staying in a suite on a 10+ night cruise. Is that only for owner's suites, etc?
