Comparison of the Triumph and Miracle??

We sailed the Triumph last year, and although we had a wonderful cruise, we didnt care for the layout..and to be quite honest hated the the rear pool/bar enclosed lido area. We are booked for a July sailing on the Miracle this summer and just wondering how the two ships compare as far as layout?

 

Would appreciate any input...

I have been on the Triumph twice and two of the Spirit class ships(Pride and Legend). IMHO the Spirit class ships are so much better designed than the Destiny/Conquest class of ships. I found the Triumph had a very chopped design where you could not go from one place to the other. On the Miracle you will have two promenade decks that are very easy to navigate. Also the rear pool area is open. On the Miracle the Ulysses pool will have the magradome cover.

 

The lido dining is set up with more stations. Again something that I liked compared to the Triumph. The biggest thing for me was the fact that the Spirit class has a much higher space ratio for passengers over the Triumph. Another words, not as crowded. Have a great cruise.

I agree with Gordon. All the things that are "bad" on the Triumph, are fixed on the Miracle (and all the Spirit class ships).

 

I like the rear pool to be open. And I hated the "steppes" on the Triumph. There are now two pool areas midship on the Miracle; one that has the retractable roof, that I have only seen closed once, and a bandstand, and another one right in front of it, almost with the same layout, which is the "quiet" pool.

 

The promenade is now two decks, and it's not a chore to get to the dining rooms. There's just one, at the rear of deck 2. No up and down staircases to find it.

 

And the outside promenade on deck 3 goes all the way around the rear of the ship.

First time on Triumph coming up for us. I had read on other posts that it's hard to navigate. For those that have been on the Triumph, I was hoping you can help.

 

Does the Promenade deck go completely around the ship? (I heard it does not, but wanted to confirm)

 

Is it true only 1 deck goes from one end of the ship to another, and if so which deck is this?

 

Any tips on how to easily get from one place to another would be great? If we know ahead of time, it really would help.

If you are talking about the exterior promenade deck(deck three), no it does not go all the way around the ship but it is a good length and if you are looking for a place to sit and relax then this is your deck for outside in the shade. No sun here or not much anyway.

 

On the inside promenade(Worlds Way) it does go from the front all the way to rear of the ship. This is where the majority of the lounges and casino is located. Decks three and four do not go from the front to the back. It may take you a couple of days to learn the deck plans but I would not call it difficult to navigate. Just more of a pain in the butt sometimes.:) Enjoy your cruise.

deck 5-

a tip i can offer is study your deck plans ahead of time. It will take you a day or two to learn your way around but that is on any ship.

I didnt want it to sound like we truely "hated" the Triumph as we enjoy every cruise we are on, but we certainly disliked the "steps" for sunning and the closed in feeling of the aft lido area. Also found it to be very very congested. I am looking very forward to sailing the Miracle.

cruisingator: Okay...so there's an exterior AND interior to the Promenade..I didn't know that-THANK YOU!! Our parents will be cruising with us, (their second cruise, and we are celebrating their 50th). They were NOT looking forward to the first cruise at all...very nervous about the cruising thing, and worried about getting sick, etc... Well finally on the LAST DAY they got up the nerve to walk on the promenade deck OUTSIDE and go completely around the entire ship(Grand Princess). They were so proud of themselves, and relieved that this didn't make them sick!! SO...now that they're old pros...we look forward to them doing this on the FIRST day!

Relax.......I can tell you that in my opinion the Destiny,Triumph, and Conquest class ships are VERY easy to get around.....you just have to remember that there are only 2 decks that don't go all the way thru.....no a big deal since deck 5 is the promenade where most of the action is anyway.......Have fun and let us know how it goes.:D

If you envision the pool at deck level, there is decking in a horseshoe pattern stepping up the boat. So at pool level you can fit a row or maybe two of loungers, then you go up a couple steps to another deck where there is a row of loungers, then up a couple steps to another deck and so on like a stadium. For me, it made the entire pool area feel crammed with people because if you were at the bottom near the pool there were hundreds of people rising up around you and if you were at the top you were looking down on hundreds of people. It also created a very noisy area . I did not like that pool area at all.

 

The aft pool some people didn't like because while with the roof open you are exposed to the sun and sky, the aft end and sides are window walls so you might still feel enclosed. I liked the aft pool area myself and liked how you could easily slipp into the shade along the edges. The aft pool was never as crowded and didn't have blarry canned music like the Lido...canned music still but not as loud.

I can see we probably wouldn't sail this ship. The deck chairs would not be very accessible for one in a w/c.
