Was thinking has anyone taken a cruise out of Charleston and as a pre/post cruise gone to Myrtle Beach? We plan on going there again next year a 5-Day on a ship ive been dying to go is right there and we are already speading the airfare so why not ;). Although im pretty sure Charleston is not as close correct?

Not sure how far it is between Myrtle Beach and Charleston as we come into MB from an entirely different direction but it can't be that bad of a drive and you will like MB. If you've never been it would be a worth while side trip.

Haven't done a pre/post cruise there, but it certainly would be doable. A nice drive right up the coast from Charleston to Myrtle Beach, about 1 1/2 to 2 hrs on US 17.

Probably is if people drive say 12+ hours for some of there cruises.

We were there last year and I loved!

Myrtle Beach is about 2 hours from CHS. Depending on what part of MB, there could be a good bit of traffic. I would consider spending the night. Drive time to/from is 4 hours+ by itself which leaves very little time for sight seeing.

Research ahead if you don't want to stay overnight. We rarely go just for the day and we live in Charleston.

Have fun!

We drove down from New York State to Charleston in August, taking Route 17. Aside from Myrtle Beach itself (which was a zoo), the drive between Myrtle Beach and Charleston was nice - we enjoyed the drive through the Francis Merion National Park. We were able to see an area of the country we've never visited. If you have the time to do a pre- or post-cruise trip, I think it would be worthwhile if you plan to spend the night.
