old sole Posted December 13, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 13, 2011 Haven't done a pre/post cruise there, but it certainly would be doable. A nice drive right up the coast from Charleston to Myrtle Beach, about 1 1/2 to 2 hrs on US 17.
Raylynn Posted December 13, 2011 #3 Share Posted December 13, 2011 Not sure how far it is between Myrtle Beach and Charleston as we come into MB from an entirely different direction but it can't be that bad of a drive and you will like MB. If you've never been it would be a worth while side trip.

kkdleon Posted December 13, 2011 #5 Share Posted December 13, 2011 Myrtle Beach is about 2 hours from CHS. Depending on what part of MB, there could be a good bit of traffic. I would consider spending the night. Drive time to/from is 4 hours+ by itself which leaves very little time for sight seeing. Research ahead if you don't want to stay overnight. We rarely go just for the day and we live in Charleston. Have fun!
jeande607 Posted December 13, 2011 #6 Share Posted December 13, 2011 Myrtle Beach is 90 miles north of Charleston. Great beach and lots of shopping and golf. If you haven't been here...you need to come.
nybumpkin Posted December 13, 2011 #7 Share Posted December 13, 2011 We drove down from New York State to Charleston in August, taking Route 17. Aside from Myrtle Beach itself (which was a zoo), the drive between Myrtle Beach and Charleston was nice - we enjoyed the drive through the Francis Merion National Park. We were able to see an area of the country we've never visited. If you have the time to do a pre- or post-cruise trip, I think it would be worthwhile if you plan to spend the night. CruiseAdict218 Posted December 13, 2011 Author #8 Share Posted December 13, 2011 We are defiantly flying in, I'm defiantly going to bring this up, only thing though is we have Alaska(cruise) planned as well. I hope this can work, I'm like in love with the Fantasy-Class
