Did Carnival sponsor a Meet and Mingle on your sailing?

From recent posts I was lead to believe Carnival would schedule some kind of CruiseCritic meeting. This did not happen last week on Freedom. Our group met up at Sailaway and had a private prepaid cocktail hour but nothing else.

Only if it's set up ahead of time. And it's not very well attended to by the ship staff. Don't think they are fond of people on CC at carnival.

Were they invited? If any of them attended you were doing well. They do have other things to do of course. I don't think it has anything to do with CC.

What else where you expecting? When we schedule a meet-n-greet, we just want to meet and greet other fellow CC members. Could care less about ship staff, just looking to make good cruise friends!

I have no idea if they are invited. Friends of ours who cruise quite a bit told us they have senior staff show up to them on other lines and not carnival. I do however notice a dislike of cc in general from carnival when I am on board and certainly from JH.

On our Dream cruise last April, one of our roll call members made the arragements through Carnival. We all paid him ahead of time. (It was a very active roll call) No one from he ship attended but that wasn't the purpose anyway. A great time was had by all! An hour of ever flowing drinks and great company for less that $12 per person.

I have arranged a couple of m&gs. I formally invite the appropriate staff in witing. One of them we had nobody, on another we had several including the CD and Hotel Director and a formal apology from the Captain. It may depend on the ship. And no sense at all from start to finish that anyone didn't like CC. Why would they dislike us?

On Nov 19 saililng of Dream we had scheduled an informal, no prepays, M & G by the aft pool for just before sailing. We noticed that there was a 5pm 'Cruise Critic' Meet and Greet scheduled in the funtimes in the caliente lounge. None of us requested it but only a few showed and no staff.

the brand ambassador coordinated an assigned time on the first sea day, listing a time and place in the funtimes.

it seems some cd's have already started dropping it due to lack of interest.

and it's been reported that the captain and officers on the magic refuse to ever attend one again, after what happened on the t/a.

We are attempting to get a location for a meet-and-greet for our roll-call for our 12/24 sailing. We posted on John Heald's facebook in mid-November and he asked us to let him know how many would be attending by early December. One of our members took charge of counting us (not quite like herding cats but close?!) and then let John know on his Facebook again the sailing date and number of expected attendees. He replied that he sent a note to the ship to arrange it for us. We're just interested in a location where we can all meet-and-greet out of the main flow of traffic.

Our plan is to check with guest services on the day we check-in and see if they have it on the schedule (or can find out) and if not, see if we can just arrange it then and have it in the Fun Times.

On Miracle in Sept we set one up was in fun times and it was just us with noone from ship showing up.

Did the same thing on the Pride last week. I contacted John Heald ahead of time and had him set it up so that it would appear in the Fun Times. We had a small group show up, but had a good time.

I am not surprised, how embarrassing for them to see Cruise Critic people arguing like spoiled kids. Still don't understand why CCL should do more for Cruise Critic, it's just individuals who have booked a cruise. What makes them different to any other guest

We are cruising Feb 26th on the Legend. I was instructed a couple of months ago to contact Host Mach who will, in turn, set up the M & G. I plan on doing so. We just want a place to meet not get all formal with cocktail hour and staff members. The idea is to meet your fellow bloggers.

I attended a M & G on the NCL POA in June. Nice get together. Most ship officers including the Capt. were present. Very pleasant. Served coffee, tea and lemondate with cookies. Nice! And we were only 20 or so. :)

Many of us are very regular customers and a couple of morons are not indicative of the rest of us.

I thought Mach was just a moderator here.? He doesn't work for Carnival. I would contact John Heald or guest relations at carnival to set one up if need be.

We just got off the Valor and had set up our own meet and greet at sailaway and a private cocktail party for our roll call.

Carnival printed in their funtimes that there was a CC meet and greet at the casino bar on embarkation day (can't remember the time it was listed for but we hadn't even set sail yet). We went to it but nothing happened as there was only one other couple that noticed the event and the bartender had no idea what I was talking about. When I showed her the funtimes schedule she thought it must be something for critics to attend. We quickly educated her on cc. Seems like Carnival may be writing the event into their funtimes but not telling any staff.

You would be amazed at what RCL did for our CC Meet & Mingle. Wow!

It was incredible. Lots of food, drinks (non-alcoholic), gifts, door prizes, and staff and photographer to run things.

Wow, wow, wow.

And that is the sort of thing that makes RCL CC members very loyal.

Whatever CCL does is nothing compared to what RCL does for CC M&M's.

Doing for customers is just good business. Doesn't hurt the bottom line.

The list of morons however seems to be growing. ;)

And multiplying...don't ya H8 when that happens;):p

At our M and G on Miracle last week we had Malcolm the CD and Captain Lubrano come and hang with us for an hour, so much fun!! We didn't do anything pre-paid either as we were a small group but we had dry snacks and bar service AND music, we appreciated it!! What the other poster said about contacting Mach is correct, he is a friend of John's and will help with arrangements whenever he can.

And CCL has no dislike for CC at all, it's just some supposed CC haters that like to promote nonsense even while they can't stay away from CC for an hour;)

Explain to me why I need to go through Mach for something I could do myself? I think John has lots of "friends" he cruises with.

Perhaps your right about ccl and cc. I don't think most people even know what the heck cc is. However I would think the officers on the magic would have a few lovely words about cc.

No offense, but the majority of the nonsense I see on here comes from people with 50,000 posts wishing people good morning.

Oh and clever with the implication I am H82.... I just simply liked his name and some of the stuff he/she says so I came up with an homage to them.
