billroddy Posted December 19, 2011 #1 Share Posted December 19, 2011 The cruise from Callao to San Diego flies you into Lima. If you add transfers to the port how long does it take? Does HAL pick up your baggage at the airport? Bill Ancient Mariner
Willem Ruys Posted December 20, 2011 #2 Share Posted December 20, 2011 Lima airport is actually IN Callao. From the ship you can watch planes on final approach and just after take off.

Willem Ruys Posted December 21, 2011 #5 Share Posted December 21, 2011 Hal's site states Callao (Lima) I was confused. Bill that's because most North Americans have never heard of Callao, which has morphed into one major population center with Lima...which they have probably heard of. Callao can be a bit dangerous so if you go out of the port by yourself, watch yourself. Some ROTTERDAM pax in 2010 were mugged near the gate to the port. woody14h Posted December 22, 2011 #7 Share Posted December 22, 2011 You can get a Limo for $22/pp http://www.city-discovery.com/lima/private_transfer.php?id=715 The port area sucks. We noticed it when we had booked an excursion in Lima. We were bussed to the entrance of the port from the ship and our driver was there. Lima is another story- great food, sites and beautiful center.
clarkovitch Posted March 1, 2012 #8 Share Posted March 1, 2012 Yeah, Callao isn't fantastic (although the San Felipe fort is quite cool) but even if you don't have long, then the centre of Lima is only about 20 minutes in a taxi and has some fabulous architecture. The best areas for eating out, like Miraflores and San Isidro are a little further away - say around 40 minutes by cab.
