11:40 flight out of San Juan?

I had an 11:45 AM flight on JB out of SJU last Sunday and had plenty of time to do the agricultural inspection, check in with JB and upgrade to extra space seating and endure along/very slow line at security. Got coffee, checked out the shops, bought sandwiches at Subway, with time to spare.

Be sure to opt for self disembarkation, taking your own luggage off of the ship.

We were assigned a 7: AM time slot on the CB, were escorted off about 7:20, did the customs interview in the terminal, and grabbed a cab to the airport. Guess I could have slept another hour, but would not want to chance it. Also, no traffic at the early hour.

When you get to the airport make sure you get you bags inspected by the agricultural people and get the lable on them before you try to check in. Ask the taxi driver to drop you off there first. We were there in 2010.

I'm usually one of the people here on CC that says "no, no, no . . . it's too early" most of the time. But I think you will be fine with an 11:40. We were the very last group off Princess last March . . . I mean there were only about a dozen bags left in baggage pick up and we were in OSJ with traffic by 11. I would want to be at the AP no later than 10 but I think you will be OK.

We just came back from SJU with a 11:40 flight. We did not disembark AOS until 8:20 and were at the gate by 9:15 for our flight :)

We've done an 11:40 right from the pier with no issues. Be sure to get your luggage quickly and take a taxi to the airport right away. As soon as you arrive, put everything through the Ag screening. Lots of people miss this and have to double-back. We normally do that and are some of the first to check in, and at the gate around 9:15 or so like beckaroo mentioned. :)

  • 1 month later...

Will am 11:00am flight back to NY be pushing it, granting that we do a self-checkout and carry our luggage ourselves? We will be on the AOS and says it will be docking at 6:00am. Need your help if I should get a later flight instead.:(

For peace of mind, I would book a later flight. The earliest I would fly from SJU is 11:30. You have a good chance of making it, but ending your vacay on a stressful note isn't ideal. Even if you have to book an evening flight (I just had to do that for our cruise next month), in my opinion it's worth being relaxed the last day of the trip. :)
