RCI terms and conditions, why always US/CA only?

This is not correct - you have been able to book the 'Decide Later' option on board for some months now. You put down just £75 deposit, and only need to put one name, and then you can decide later what cruise you do want to take. The booking never expires and you get 2 Friends and Family certificates to use,and if the friends book on the same cruise as you do within 30 days, then they also get on board credit.

To the OP, the most significant benefit is that we can still get price drops after final payment which they cannot in the USA.

Remember the OBC is not combinable with your C&A balcony discount/savings certificates - so what they give with one hand they take away with the other:rolleyes:

That's good news! Certainly in April this year that was not an option for us when we were on FOS. We did book again on board though, paying full deposit for each person, picked our rooms, dining etc Which was fine, but at the same time it would have been good to do the advance booking thing without having to decide exactly! Will def be planning on doing this for our next cruise when we on AOS in April :D

Anyhow, we will watch how the prices go the next two weeks and book the Navigator somewhere soon…

On the different country’s that RCI uses, this is from the statement of my credit card:

ROYAL CARIBBEAN CRU

STOCKH – SE

So looks like my money has been transferred to Sweden now, last time it was Miami-US, before that to Belgium via TA…Getting excited in what language I will receive my cruise documents this time, first time it was in English, second time it was in Portuguese, now…in Sweed? Love the logic, o well as long as the seapass card reader does a “DING!” sound, I will be happy :D :D :D

Looks like the only place RCI has its online settings tuned to is the USA, thought the UK wouldn’t have this problem…

Aaaaargh, when I read the wow sale of today it’s just to get more frustrations….Would love to have a chat with Adem Goldstein about this!

Check out the jogging track onboard. He has been on a couple of my sailings and he can be found on the jogging track quite easily when onboard.;) BTW these where regular sailings, nothing special like C&A sailings, inaugural or so.

Brian here in Canada, we still do not have the Royal credit card here in Canada and I know they have there promotions for each market, somehow i get emails for the UK market under my sons name every couple of weeks, which offer different things than we get offered here, so i understand your frustration.

I know some of our european friends liked to book through the american travel companys but that has been blocked now. In Canada and the US we can cancel without penalty before final payment but Europe cannot by my understanding.

Happy sailing

PS Hello David

Not entirely true. Princess has stopped allowing U.S. and Canadian TA's to book English/European clients unless there is already a relationship. RCL has not stopped this. I have English, American and of course, clients from one end of Canada to the other.

I'm Canadian and have never seen a break for my province which is in the middle of Canada. Also many of the contests are for US only. Name of Oasis and Allure for example. So the answers above are correct. Banking laws, merchant laws and gaming laws are all different.

The best example I can give is that in Canada if you win a lottery you get it all with no taxes removed. If I win in the USA they hold 30% of the winnings as they do charge taxes on winning in their casinos ect (over I believe $1200.00). I can get some of the money back but it takes months and a lot of paper work to get it. This is a pet peeve of many travelers.

Although not frequently, there have been Manitoba resident rates.

For me personally, I just don’t trust transferring so much money to somebody I can’t see in person…I trust a site like RCI, but I would never pay for a cruise to a foreign travel agent which is generally a lot of money…So that option is out of the question for me, whether they allow it or not.

I'm really not suggesting that. I was responding to another poster. Everyone has to do what they are comfortable with and I certainly understand where you are coming from.
