V'sGirl Posted December 29, 2011 #1 Share Posted December 29, 2011 I confess that I am addicted to the Port Everglades webcam and satellite. I keep the full page view on my computer when I'm at home. Any other webcams out there with views as good?

I called my son on my cell phone and told him to go to the PortFever web site to see if he could see us on the ship. I told him where to look and as we passed by the hotel with the webcam, we started waving furiously at the camera and they zeroed in on us for at least 20 seconds. My son took his camera out and took of photo of us on the monitor. Pretty cool that our kids could see us waving to them live from 3000 miles away while talking to them at the same time! sail7seas Posted December 29, 2011 #3 Share Posted December 29, 2011 I love to look at Maasdam on the web cam when she is in Bar Harbor, at anchor, during the Canada/New England cruises. I especially like she's at anchor vs. docked. :)

LordSpain Posted December 29, 2011 #6 Share Posted December 29, 2011 Bar none the Port Everglades webcam is the best because it incorporates sound, but the others I have bookmarked on my browser are: New York Harbor Webcam: http://www.nyharborwebcam.com/ Port Canaveral Webcam: http://www.portcanaveralwebcam.com/ San Diego Harbor: http://live6.truelook.com/face/newface.jsp?func=live&name=/ecodb/1amnorth/camera1&pan=-95.30463&tilt=-14.655356&panfov=22.849657&tiltfov=17.81001&overlay=default&skin=default&useapplet=true&time=1221166948593&width=640&height=480&quality=65&catalogname=catalog&zoom=2.0437944&vfmap.x=303&vfmap.y=74 Midtown Manhattan Cruise Terminal: http://wirednewyork.com/webcam3/ New York Harbor from the cam on Statue of Liberty: http://www.earthcam.com/usa/newyork/statueofliberty/ I need to get a life! worldspan Posted December 29, 2011 #8 Share Posted December 29, 2011 There is also a St Maarten pier webcam http://www.st-maarten-island-guide.com/cruising/harborview This one is particularly cool because you can also see people swimming at the beach across the harbour. mamaofami Posted December 29, 2011 #9 Share Posted December 29, 2011 I love watching NY and Port Everglades. It helps build my anticipation for my cruise. Several years ago, Inn Lady and I were on the same roll call watching the Noordam leave from NY for the Caribbean every week or so. We finally met when we both sailed the Noordam. innlady1 Posted December 29, 2011 #10 Share Posted December 29, 2011 It appears that the www.newyorkharborwebcam.com and the www.portcanaveralwebcam.com are operated by Lou from the www.portevergladeswebcam.com! As I recall, I think I read that on his Port Everglades site a while ago....seems he's "branched out"! Love those webcams!

ASIWISH Posted December 29, 2011 #13 Share Posted December 29, 2011 I love the Port Everglades WebCam. I have several monitors in my home office, and one is always full screen to the WedCam... LOVE IT!!!! I would love to know how it's operated! Last month (HAS IT BEEN A MONTH ALREADY?????), Nancy and I were waving and my whole family watched it! I couldn't really see much on the balcony because of the distance.... Does someone monitor it from the balcony, from an office... what type of equipment is used..? how much of a time commitment is it? How much does it cost to operate each year? I am so appreciative of the effort.... How wonderful!!!!

V'sGirl Posted December 29, 2011 Author #16 Share Posted December 29, 2011 Edmusic, your picture, and the story behind it, is the coolest thing I've seen in a while! It's wonderful to know that I'm not alone in my obsession, and also to find out about the other great sites.
