On board purchases, cash and sign & sail

Good morning everyone and Happy New Year. I can finally say "I am cruising this year!"

I have some questions--hope you have the answers (I know you do)

When you purchased things from the gift shop (tobacco, liquor) do you get it right then or get it at the end of the cruise? Last cruise I noticed in the gift shop there were stacks of liquor behind the gift shop register getting boxed up. But buying something and taking it to your room--OK? I guess that go for buying something in Nassa too?

Cash--I do not want to have a bunch of cash right from the start, but I do need cash for the casino (will not pay the 3%) and cash for buying things in port (trying to keep my credit card charges under control). Does anyone know if they will cash travelers checks on-board? I am taking a land vacation in a few weeks and the hotel will cash my travelers checks.

And finally--sign & sail account. If on the last night of the cruise I have cash left over (haha, I know) can I go to guest services and pay off my sign and sail account? Last cruise I won a couple dollars at the casino and put it in my wallet with the intention of paying my credit card--you know that never happened.

Thanks

Jan

Tobacco purchases, you can have immediately.

I'm almost positive that they will cash your traveler's checks at Guest Services.

Each time we win in the casino, we immediately go to Guest Services and apply our winning to our S&S. DH loves CCL paying us to cruise, LOL!

Thanks

if you use the slot machines to get cash-- you will not be charged anything (except what you lost for the one spin to cash out)

we buy funship dollars and apply them to our account so we are not carrying around money

Yes, you can pay your account with cash at the end. If you have any left they will issue you a check (if you put cash down, or you can go close your account the last night and get it then...just can't use your card afterward, so do it before bed time). Liquor is the only thing I can think of that is not delivered (or can be taken to) your room until the last night of the cruise. They will cash travelers checks for you at the Pursur's desk. Have a great cruise:)

You can get cash from the slot machines? How does that work? I read something that made me think you use your Sign and Sail card in the slot machines instead of cash and wondered how it worked? We're planning our first Carnival cruise and have lots of questions.

There are directions on every slot machine. You need to set your card up with a 4 digit pass code. Your sign and sail card is tied to your birthdate.

Put the card in- put in your codes- ttransfer the money from your sign and sail account TO your players account.

take a few spins - take the card out (cash will automatically put it back to the card that was in the machine last)

take the card to the cashiers desk-- get you money

Are you saying that you don't use cash in the slot machines onboard? Instead, whatever you spend in the casino is added to your shipboard account?

No you can put cash (bills) into a machine, but you need to set up your players bank because if you have credits on a machine and want to go play another machine you have to upload your credits to your players bank, move to another machine, then download from your players bank to the machine you are sitting at.

You should always have your S&S card in the slot machine while you are playing because it is accumulating points and when you get to 1500 points you get the "On Us" free drink card.

I usually get my free drink card by the evening of day 2 and I spend about $100 a day on the slots, so it's not hard to do.

Admittedly, it's been a while (4 years) since our last cruise, so apparently some things have changed. Are there no longer any quarter slot machines? And what about the machines where you drop in a quarter and a metal bar pushes the coins forward toward the open slot at the front? What do the points equal in cash value? How many free drinks do you get for 1500 points?
