We were there last week. We booked a car and driver with Victor Bodden and LOVED it! Anthony was our driver.

With this company, you can do whatever you want. Just tell the driver. We wanted a tour of the island, shopping, and a visit to hold monkeys and see the iguanas. Anthony said a lot of people pick the beach. We didn't but he would know of a good, safe one. We LOVED our tour! It was the best day of our cruise.

The monkey place was awesome. We went into the cages an HELD the monkeys! We took gobs of pictures. It was awesome!

If we ever go back to Roatan, we will book with Victor Bodden again...for sure!

About half way down this page (http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1536221&page=2) and on the next 2 pages, Stickman81 does a review of his day in Roatan. He spent the day on Maya Key and has lots of photos. Looks like a fun possibility. I've never been to Roatan, and after seeing Stickman81's review I'm seriously considering it.

Just found Stickman81's review on this thread: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1539514

Thank you for the response! It sounds like fun.We have never been to Roatan and am a little nervous on taking a chance on not getting back to ship on time. I will certainly look into it! :)

Definitely look into it. We did a Victor Bodden tour and just asked our tour guide to be sure and have us back an hour or so before the ship sailed. You can allow yourself some "extra" time if it would make you feel comfortable. Victor's company does many tours so I think if you were to email him your concerns he may be able to put your mind at ease. We did an island tour and lunch. But, you can really do whatever you want. Google Victor and email him about options that include the adult party time you'd like to have. I'm sure he has some suggestions.

The other option may be to go to an all-inclusive but then you wouldn't really get to see that much of this beautiful island. Perhaps, you could do a shorter island tour and then have your tour guide take you to an all-inclusive for some "beverage" time!:D

It was our first time on the island as well. I found Bodden's transportation to be very reliable. We were in an air conditioned van. We set the tour length. True, you are always taking a chance when you don't book a ship tour, but we personally have never (knock on wood) had any problem whatsoever! I loved the flexibility with this tour, and couldn't believe our savings from the ships tours.

I've booked my last 7 of 8 tours myself. It would have been 8 of 8, but in Cozumel, I HAD to do the Amazing Race through the ship or they wouldn't book me. Some contractual thing. Give it a try!!!

I booked our tour with Bodden tours today! We will be doing the Fun-n-sun excursion. Thanks for the input! Always appreciated! I have cruised over 20 times and hate paying the price for an excursion through the cruise lines! I give them enough of my hard earned $ in drinks and gambling ;-) :D

I just know you will be happy. Check them out on tripadvisor. Very highly rated. I just posted a review too. Our guide, Anthony, told us most people requested beach experiences. Perhaps we will do that next time, but I still think we'd hit the monkey's again first!

Bodden tours REALLY accommodating. If you see something you like, they'll just stop and let you experience it. I found the people of Roatan to be very kind and appreciative of the cruise passengers. The ships have brought some money to an impoverished area. We though Roatan was simply beautiful. Yes, there are poor areas, but we loved the people and the island is not touched by heavy commercialism. It was our favorite stop on this cruise.

If you get Anthony (you can request him) tell him he was recommended by the teacher he had Christmas week.

Will do! If it had not been for you we would have not known about Bodden Tours! I thank you VERY much for your input. That's why I depend on cruise critic to make the best of our vacations! ;) It is very much appreciated! I will post our experience once we return. It will be here and over with before we know it :(
