Oh2Travel Posted April 12, 2005 #1 Share Posted April 12, 2005 Will be visiting w/ older relatives, one in a wheelchair for long distances. Wondering if area where ship docks and walk to town is short (# of blocks) and accessible for pushing a standard wheelchair? How many blocks to the straw market? Shopping? Other info/tips appreciated.
DEL67 Posted April 12, 2005 #2 Share Posted April 12, 2005 Its just a short walk into town from where the ships dock. You just go across a small bridge. From there, its only 2 or 3 blocks to the main shopping street and we did not have any difficulty pushing my hsuband's wheelchair. There's also shops and stands on the street that parallels the water. The straw market burned down since our last visit, but if its in the same general area, its also just a few blocks from the ship, running between the main street and the one by the water. One caution though, the stands are very close together so its difficult to push a wheelchair through the market. If you want to do something other than shopping, the Pirate Museum is wheelchair accessible. Its not big, but its a nice way to spend an hour or so. Swirl_junkie Posted May 6, 2005 #4 Share Posted May 6, 2005 Atlantis is totally accessible, but it is alot of pushing if you are using a manual chair. you probably cover a few miles to see everything.
