N222 cruise on Ventura in September

Hi everyone

Anyone on this cruise It goes to Valencia then Messina We have never visited these places before Any tips for the best excursions?

I was in messina on Adonia. It's a lovely place for a quick walk around. Its only a 5 min walk to the main square from the ship. We sat outside drinking coffee and prosecco and waiting for the clock to strike 12 - all sorts of noises and things happen. I wont tell you any more!

The cathedral there is beautiful.

The buses go from there as well and you can take one to Taormina - 17kms away. We had been before so didnt bother, but if you havent been - go for it.

Have a pizza for lunch - a nice change from the ship food.

Valencia is a great city. Smaller than Barcelona and less touristy. Old city centre with great market, old riverbed extending towards the beach which has some modern architecture, concert halls, museums and a park. It also has a huge aquarium and sealife centre which would take most of the day to see.

 

There's also a large expanse of beach. Valencia is where paella originated and the locals eat it for lunch. Definately worth having.

As well as watching the clock tower which is worth it you can climb it too -(you have to pay but it's only a few Euros)it's a lot of steps but the view of the island(and the ship) is fab.
