rt1092 Posted January 8, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 8, 2012 We are going to have 6 days to spend in Alaske post cruise I want to go halibut fishing probably out of Homer. I planning on taking the train from Seward to Anchorage and renting a car there. Any suggestions?
AKman2495 Posted January 8, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 8, 2012 Suggestion about what? I will say this, most halibut charters out of Homer are all day affairs. That means you should drive to homer at least the day before. I would find a good hotel in homer (Lands end resort is tight on the spit). That way you cane up at 5:00 to catch the charter. You will also have to figure out what you want to do with a bunch of halibut is you are staying another 3-4 days in Alaska. In other words, you will have to plan the charter around your return. Most charters will leave with a cooler full of fish. There are some who may do further processing for you, for a price, but you need to find that out before you book the charter. Good luck with your trip.
Budget Queen Posted January 9, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 9, 2012 With 6 days you can afford the backtracking time. I would suggest you may also want to consider some fishing out of Seward. You have a good block of time for Kenai Peninsula fighting/sightseeing.
