Atlantica 7-23 APR 2012 - Miami to Savona question

We are looking at this cruise. For the flight bak to the states, how hard is it to get to Milan? We will be a group of 4 with 2 kids. Flights out of Genoa all seem to need an extra connection to get us home.

Genoa airport is a small provincial one without any intercontinental flights.

Milan is your best and easiest way home.

As Kasi said above, take the Costa coach transfer, takes about 3 house and costs about €30 p.p.

If you use a TA for the cruise booking, they can check with Costa and book your transfers in advance. If you rent a car, there is a Hertz in Savona very near the port. Cheap taxi or walkable. If you rent, try to stay a few days in Italy. I just did the reverse transatlantic this past December. If your schedule permits a stay, Sanremo is not far from Savona. Gives you a wonderful taste of the Italian Riviera. I thought it was much nicer than Genoa. The Hotel de Paris faces the water in Sanremo near the casino. It is a gorgeous and affordable hotel with five star service. Rated over 9 on TripAdvisor. I wasn't too impressed with Milan. Big city atmosphere with less character than can be found in the other parts of Italy. Once you are done exploring, you could drop your car at the Milan airport. Driving in Italy is really not as horrible as it might look.
