MadCruiser89 Posted January 11, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 11, 2012 Can someone explain how the wine package works in a specialty restaurant or the dining room? Do you just let the waiter know you bought the package and they bring you a bottle? Are you limited to 1 bottle per day?

Yes, you let the waiter know you have the package, and you tell the waiter which wine you would like. You are not limited, you can ask for all your bottles at one time, and take them back to your stateroom if you like.
melmar02 Posted January 11, 2012 #3 Share Posted January 11, 2012 Your sea pass will have your wine package printed on it, or bring your confirmation of purchase, and they can place a sticker on your sea pass at guest services. You are not limited to one bottle / day. Yes, you just show your sea pass in the MDR or speciality restaurant, and they will bring you the wine list. We had luck on our first cruise getting a bottle from Windjammer at lunch - sort of. They had to go to Portofino or Chops to get our bottle (couldn't get it at the bar that is in the buffet), but they didn't give us a hard time about it. We just asked one of the Head Waiters or Maitre 'd instead of one of the waiters - he was in a suit. The MDR will recork the bottle for the next night if you don't finish it, or you can take it back to your room. Any bottles you didn't consume by the last night, the MDR can get for you to take home. Sequim88 Posted January 11, 2012 #4 Share Posted January 11, 2012 and they can place a sticker on your sea pass at guest services. We got sticker on the SeaPass card first used to order a bottle. From then on it had to be THAT card to oder subsequent bottles from the package. Not a big deal for most traveling as couples or family and always dining together but could be a factor for some doing split dining. Also (and had not thought of this before) if person with sticker gets medical quarantined (say for Noro virus) other(s) in stateroom unaffected might not get to order from package. Not sure how they handle that one.
traveling1969 Posted January 11, 2012 #5 Share Posted January 11, 2012 Just one caution. If you take bottles back to your room then bring them back into the MDR, you will be charged a corkage fee. Sometimes they won't charge but I wouldn't count on it.
lov2sun Posted January 11, 2012 #6 Share Posted January 11, 2012 why would they charge a corkage fee to bring it back to the dining room? you cant bring on your own wine so clearly this was already purchased from the ship, right?

Correct. However illogical this may seem, it is their policy.
