gtalum Posted January 17, 2012 #76 Share Posted January 17, 2012 We do some things together and some things apart. It always works out. My favorite thing about cruising is how easy it is for everyone to find something they want to do, together or apart.
Handsome58 Posted January 17, 2012 #77 Share Posted January 17, 2012 do things together and spend time apart. The thing we say is that this is both of our cruise...meaning we may like different things so you do you and I do me and then we do dinner together..........lol lol
MISSSNOOPYGIRL Posted January 17, 2012 Author #78 Share Posted January 17, 2012 She likes to get a book and a lounger, and I roam around "touching stuff" It works ! Cute! Reminds me of hubby and I
All4fun&fun4all Posted January 17, 2012 #79 Share Posted January 17, 2012 We are joined at the hip. Our interests are similar so we do the things we like to do, together. We are like this at home also though. I always tell him he can go off and do whatever he wants and he says "I already am". :)
MagnoliaFly Posted January 17, 2012 #80 Share Posted January 17, 2012 We do split up sometimes and I'll take a walkie talkie with me just in case he needs something and vice versa. He doesn't like doing arts and crafts stuff and I do. Most of the time we're together doing stuff though. Love taking card games, Bananagrams and dice games to play on Lido deck. JKJG3 Posted January 17, 2012 #81 Share Posted January 17, 2012 Our very first cruise; I got bored of laying in the sun on the first sea day; so I grabbed a drink and headed off to explore the ship. I found some bingo going on in the theater and proceeded to win $500! When I returned to the pool area; my wife was sarcastically asking if I had a good time by myself; and I told her I sure did! Erased our bar tab!
mxylpic Posted January 17, 2012 #82 Share Posted January 17, 2012
I enjoy gambling but DH doesn't. Also, I need some time alone! So, while he's on our balcony with his kindle, I take off to the casino & donate money. Both of us are happy![/quote:D] Which is exactly the opposite of me and DW. I'm the gambler, she's on deck. And she's not at all a night person so in the evening after a show or whatever she'll go back to the cabin to read/sleep and I'll hit the casino again to donate even more money. maldenmusic Posted January 17, 2012 #83 Share Posted January 17, 2012 I wish my hubby would go do his own thing but.....he won't. He hates sitting out in the sun but I guess he's afraid he'll lose me if he doen'st come along. The only time I managed to get him to go off on his own was once when they had some kind of special in the cigar lounge and i refused to go so he went.....alone :)

skipnpeanut Posted January 17, 2012 #85 Share Posted January 17, 2012 We are together most of the time, sometimes I'll go through the shops and he will wait out in the hall people watching, but generally we do most things together. He likes ocean swimming more than I do, so he does that and most times I just sit on the beach and watch him. We always take excursions together. GrandmaHofmann Posted January 17, 2012 #87 Share Posted January 17, 2012 I assume he is an adult. Why would he object? My husband and I often do different things on the ship. Maybe I want to go to the shopping lecture. He sure doesn't. Maybe I want to go to a craft class. He REALLY doesn't. On the other hand, he plays sudoku and often goes to the challenges held on different ships, whereas I do not. I notice that young women often tow their spouses into lectures and craft sessions in which their young husbands have no interest. Older women give their men longer leashes. :)
golfadj Posted January 17, 2012 #88 Share Posted January 17, 2012 DW loves to visit the shops on the ships and I have zero interest. I will play a trivia game and she will shop and make up to meet at a given time and place.

Cruzinbabe06 Posted January 17, 2012 #90 Share Posted January 17, 2012 Me and my husband have been together since 1994, got married in 2001 and have very different interests. I'm 44, he's 50. On cruises he likes to sit at the bar, drink and socialize. I prefer the Serenity area with my ipod and book. On sea days he'll walk with me until I find a spot, now he knows where I'll be and then he goes and hang out at the bar and socialize. He comes back periodically, we talk and then he's off again. He hate the shows at night, he prefers the casino. I'm the opposite. Sometimes he drags me with him to the Cigar bar. I hate it. But, I go just to keep the peace. Our excursions we do together because we both love beaches. So on those days we are more together. That's one thing about relationships, you always have to give and take.:D
gmros Posted January 17, 2012 #91 Share Posted January 17, 2012 Definitely! There are things that I like to do and DH doesn't, and vice versa. Heck, we sometimes even go on different excursions in port :D.
Peace2U Posted January 17, 2012 #92 Share Posted January 17, 2012 We pretty much do everything together, except for while I am in the gym, he is reading or napping.

momtoabowhead Posted January 17, 2012 #94 Share Posted January 17, 2012 Last cruise we had DD with us. He spent a lot of time chasing after her and let me do some sunbathing. Also, he often took nap duty, sitting on the Balcony with his Nook while she rested. That trip we were apart a lot. Our upcoming cruise is our honeymoon. I imagine we will split up some but likely spend a lot of time together.
capriciousc Posted January 17, 2012 #95 Share Posted January 17, 2012 On any vacation, we typically have at least some time apart each day. Generally this is because we each like to go and work out at some point, so the one who's not going will stay with DD. Hubby likes to just go and hit the gym equipment, I like to see what classes they are offering. Plus we will each try to find something to do with DD so that she gets special "Mother/Daughter" or "Daddy/Daughter" time, and the non-participating parent gets a break. However, we eat all our meals together, and go on excursions together. It's a good balance.
MamaParrotHead Posted January 17, 2012 #96 Share Posted January 17, 2012 Yup. I'm a "lay in the sun and bake/take a dip/read" kind of girl on sea days. It drives DH mental to stay still for that long a period of time. He'll go hang in the sports bar and catch up on the scores since we've been away, nap in the cabin, wander aimlessly, eyeball a new watch in the giftshop. This is the main reason we love walkie talkies.

I see those poor guys (or wives that are stuck in the Casino/wherever, miserable) & feel so sorry for them. My first marriage was like that & it was no fun! I can't help but laugh & wonder why making each other uncomfortable is the relationship norm... separating for a while would be much more enjoyable & if any harm would come of it, well... you know... looneytunes31419 Posted January 18, 2012 #99 Share Posted January 18, 2012 For the most part DH and I do things together on the Ship, I think the only time we don't is when he wants to go around and take lots of pictures of the ship basically doing his own tour of the ship. I would love to join him on that aspect but I have had 5 knee surgeries in 4 years:eek: so I can not do a lot of walking and climbing of stairs. When we are in port I prefer to stay on the ship because of this reason, I hate not being able to walk very far or very long. I just went threw knee surgery number 5 in December right after coming off of the Disney Dream.:o I am still recovering from that surgery when we go in March on the Ecstasy I will probably will be staying on the ship in Nassau and get off in Free Port. Not sure just yet. My Dr. has not released me from the Crutches yet and said it will be another 4 to 6 weeks before I will be completely off of them:confused: so I am not too sure about what I will be doing. When he is in port he likes to venture off the beaten path and go places I would never go LOL he has fun and that is all that matters, how ever we are on VACATION.. Darlene.Gina Posted January 18, 2012 #100 Share Posted January 18, 2012 Not too often. Bf is very simple so he enjoys doing really anything. We like the same things so we feel so need to part ways. Last cruise I don't think we parted ways once. Lol. Pathetic?
