Wow! I am surprised at how many people do split up throughout the cruise. Not judging or anything, trust me to each his own, just surprised.

My husband and I enjoy a lot of things together, and we both make it a point to enjoy things we might not normally do but do it for each other. Thank goodness, we have a lot of the same interests, and we both value down time together! We have been married 12 years now and so far we still enjoy each others company over doing things individually.

DH and I finally got into a good routine. We've done a few and have found that it's best to look at the daily and figure things out 1st thing.
On our Alaskan Cruise the 1st couple of days we were joined at the hip until I realized that we were going to the same spot and talking to the same people at the same time. He was happy with that but I wasn't.
So I left him happy there and I was happy to go and do what I wanted.
Ports and the few excursions were together and evenings were together, But the rest of the time we did what WE wanted to do.

While we have alot of the same interests, we don't have ALL the same interests. Which is a nice balance. 25+ years later it works for us.

There were several members of our family on the last cruise. Most did their own thing, but MIL was very nervous and clung to DH. I had to ask my sis and DD to take her with them so we could have a few minutes of 'us time'. It worked out pretty good, but next cruise will be just us and 10th anniversary. We have similar interests so will be together most of the time. He knows when I say I'm going to do something, it means he can come with me or he doesn't have to and vice versa. Just one of the joys of being married to my best friend. :D We always eat and go on shore together though.

Definitely. I love to lay in the sun, read, relax, etc. Not my husband - he hates just lying out in the sun. So we would part ways for a couple hours - me to the sun - he to the casino or whatever. AND, it makes meeting up again later that much nicer!

I don't see any problem with each of you going different directions at times. As long as most of your time is spent together. I think there are always things for women to do, as men things too. I don't have that problem as my husband won't fly, so I always go with a girlfriend. Sometimes we split and go different directions also. Afterall, everyone has different tastes at times.:)

I enjoy parting ways with the s.o., family and friends. Everyone needs a little me time, and besides everyone will not agree/decide on what to do. So no worries, we meet up after the individual activity we want to do or sometime later on.
