CONRAD or SHERATON PR--Other Hotel Recommendations

HELP...

for pre-cruise, Princess offer's: CONRAD for $278 and Sheraton PR $258 + tx per night.

from what I am seeing, this isn't a bad price & it includes transfers from airport to hotel and from hotel to ship.

i'm aware it is close to ship and in an industrial area, so not much to do...

WHAT are your "pro's" or "con's" to either hotel????

What "other" hotels do you recommend for under $200, which would be fairly close to OSJ and the port. (maybe like a $10-15 cab ride each way too OSJ or to the port)

ANY HOTEL INFO is APPRECIATED...doesn't have to be super fancy but DOES have to be CLEAN & GOOD SERVICE.

Thanks

If you are comfortable doing so use Priceline or Hotwire for your hotel and you will get a much better price. There is tons of information on this thread to help you out.

I agree with Puffinater. You may be able to get a hotel for between $90-$130 per night, and can use a taxi (regulated and easily accessible) to get around San Juan. You can check out this thread, which is loaded with info on bidding in San Juan: Summary of Winning Bids on Priceline, Hotwire, etc..

Betterbidding.com also has plenty of information. IMO, if you bid on a Resort in San Juan (see betterbidding for the list of hotels and resorts, you can't go wrong. :)

I bid on Priceline a few months back for the second time. I bid $125 in zone 8 for a resort and won the Conrad. I will be staying there next month. Someone posted here that they won the Conrad recently. You will save a lot of $$ bidding through priceline or hotwire. Last year I bid $130 and won the Marriott Stellaris. Learn about bidding. If you are not extremely particular about which hotel you stay at, you can save a LOT.

You do not need to buy transfers with Princess. Save yourself a bundle and take taxis and book your own hotel. Taxis are regulated in PR and extremely easy to use at the airport and hotels. Good luck.

I'd use Priceline, and only bid for a five-star property! Nothing less.

We've stayed at the Caribbe Hilton and LaConcha resorts in the past

and had a blast. Very nice properties, and close enough to OSJ to

walk. Taxi or cheap bus service is available as well.

When are you sailing? With a date I might be able to check into Hotwire and Priceline to get you some info and at least a guess as to the hotel.

We will be staying 1 night post cruise 4/14/12, arriving around 12:45PM in SJ.

Thank you so much...I've been doing some bidding research but still somewhat confused.

Looks like there was a win on PL for the Resort San Juan Conrad San Juan Condado Plaza $119 for 4/7.

Also listed $145 resort 4/13/12 and 4/14/1 Marriott San Juan Resort and Stallaris Casino.

If you go to PL bid only zone 8, resort or 4 star.

Good luck!

PS...Also some reports of the Radisson in the $80 range it is listed as a 3.5 star.

Hope this helps
