City pass Seattle

Trying to make the most of my 7 day cruise aboard carnival spirit on May 29. Plan on flying in a day or two early and use the Seattle city pass. Anyone have any experience with this. Looking to stay at a Hilton brand hotel so far on here I heard homewood suites on pike was an ideal location. Thinking about the embassy suites but not sure which location is convenient. Hopefully which ever hotel I book has a free shuttle to and from the airport. What's the best and cheapest way to get to the port. Would I want to stay near the airport, port, downtown.

SeaTac is about 30 minutes south of Seattle. Most hotels around Seatac offer a shuttle to and from the airport but you need to make your own way into Seattle.

The cheapest option into town is Light Rail .... 40 minutes and $2.75. It's a bit of a walk to the Light Rail station after you leave Baggage Claim, 7-10 minutes so you need to be able to manage your luggage. The last stop is at Westlake Center which is in the heart of downtown. If you plan on sightseeing you may want to stay downtown, otherwise, take the rail back to SeaTac when you're done sightseeing for the day. A taxi into town costs around $40-$45.

There are a couple of shuttle services to both piers, maybe $12.

Have a look at the Seattle forum on www.tripadvisor.com for info on hotels and transportation. Lots of good info there.

Here's the light rail site:

The first several stops aren't really near attractions. Once you get to the Stadium stop you're basically in town so the last 4 stops might be of interest.

The Hilton is right across the street from the airport. Embassy Suites is nearer to Renton so a few miles away.

The Doubletree Arctic Club hotel (Doubletree is a Hilton brand) is located half a block from the Pioneer Square light rail station, so probably the easiest of all Hilton family properties to reach from the airport, except the airport-area hotels with shuttles (but those are not easily accessible to downtown - shuttle back to the airport, walk through the garage to the light rail station, then ride on the train.)

In the downtown area, at least through this summer, all the buses are free, so while the Arctic Club is in more an office area than the commercial core (maybe a 10 min. walk) you can move around downtown easily if you stay there.

Carnival departs from the Pier 91 terminal (there are two) which has no hotels close by. A taxi from most downtown hotels to Pier 91 ought to be around $10 to $15.
