upgrade question

Hi. We are sailing on the Monarch on Jan 30, 2012 And have been watching the available cabins. There have been at least 15 JS's and 3 full suites available.

It's 10 days till we cruise and I'm wondering if we will be getting a crown and anchor update? We have 220 points.

I just called C&A and someone told me that all upgrades are done 14 days prior to the cruise (I'm pretty sure that is wrong). And that there will be no upgrades at all on the cruise.

Anybody have any info on this.

The upgrade rules have changed, and I'm not sure if there's an official policy on shorter cruises. It used to be that only D+ with 75 or more cruise credits could upgrade on shorter cruises. If you're not at that level, then I don't think you'll get one, at least not from C&A.

 

I was visited by the upgrade fairy in December on a 4-nighter, three days before the cruise. Miami's revenue department will do their upgrades, and then give whatever is left to C&A , which now is doing the upgrades pretty at the last minute, based on my experiences (the same thing happened in October).
