Does CCL have a Disaster Team?

You know I got thinking any corporation of any size has a disaster team at the ready to be callled out , just in case of an emergency. I mean my wife's company picks up wrecked cars and disposes of them for Insurance companies , and everytime there is a major storm , they roll a ready made team to handle it . My wife helped during Katrina man that was like 75,000 plus cars never saw so many in one field from an aerial shot.

My sister was on a Carnival cruise ship that had problems and passengers missed their flights and were stranded in Puerto Rico.

Granted, to me being stranded in Puerto Rico sounds pretty good right now, but at the time my sister did not have any vacation days left at a new job and her husband was a business owner who wanted to get back and take care of business.

Her story is interesting.

Apparently people flew in from Miami to assist.

Kind of like a disaster team, right?

She says that the passengers remaining on the ship were herded into the theater and held there as passengers were boarding for the next cruise.

They were not allowed to leave the room unless they wanted to give up any aid that Carnival might provide.

She says that the room was freezing cold and that people were miserable and upset.

They were not offered food or beverages.

Finally when some diabetic passengers started to become ill they were brought sandwiches and water.

They were held there all day and were finally put on a bus to go to a hotel around midnight.

Getting a flight was difficult and according to my sister getting information from the Carnival people was impossible.

Sis describes it as mass confusion.

Carnival promised to pay the difference in the air fare home, but it took her many phone calls and months to get the check.

My brother in law refuses to ever sail on Carnival again.

Carnival does not handle disruptions well.

The disaster team is over on another board

When your brand devotion devolves into conspiracy theories that reach the most bizarre conclusions, (the ABC network and press are a bunch of socialists or communists or some such nonsense) then it's safe to say that your team is a disaster.

On a serious note, as far as CCL is concerned and their response thus far, I think stating that they've been a day late and a dollar short is the understatement of the century.

Mrs. Wilburforce,

I must say that I very much enjoy your posts!

I guess it's hard for me to fathom how a company the size of CCL would not have people in place for such events. Not like the one that happened but for ones like the Splendor , that stuff is very possible with all of the cruises they have . 3 phone calls and company jets could be rolling.

I already told my wife and people will laugh at me but after this next cruise I doubt I will ever cruise Carnival again , If this is all they care about their passengers I will take my money elsewhere . I would cancel this one except for the fact I booked ES and hate like heck losing my down payment. I think it's shameful how they have handled this entire ordeal.
