I wanted to know if Concierge is worth the extra money ? I will be traveling with my DH and DS who will be 5 at the time. What do you get with Concierge that you don't with a regular room. We have been on 2 prior cruises before. Thanks in advance !

To begin, the experience at a concierge level is so vastly different that we only book sailings at the concierge level.

Please reply as to which ship your are thinking of sailing and then it will be easier to give you the information as to what to expect, because the Wonder/Magic are much different than the Dream/Fantasy.

I was recently in a concierge cabin on the Dream and prec=viously in a congierge cabin on the Magic. They do differ, and it's been awhile since the Magic so things may have changed.

For the Dream:

You will be able to book shore excursions, specialty dining, Castaway Cay cabanas, and infant care at the 120 day mark

You won't have an assigned port arrival time, you may arrive at your leisure.

If you arrive at the port prior to embarkation beginning, you will be the first on board. IF you arrive after it has begun, you won't wait in line, you will be taken to the front of it.

There is a private concierge check in and seating area at the port.

When you board you can go to the concierge lounge where you will be greeted with your choice of Champagne or sparkling wine and a light lunch spread. You can relax there while you finalize any details, or have a nibble and go to lunch elsewhere.

The lounge is open from pretty early in the morning until pretty late in the evening, and you are welcome to sodas, specialty coffees, wine and beer, and ther eis food out whenever the lounge is open.

The mini-fridge in your stateroom will be stocked, and your cabin steward will ask what yu like and keep it stocked. There will also be fresh fruit in your cabin.

You can borrow and iPad and you'll get an hour of free Internet time via wi-fi in your cabin.

There is an iPod/phone docking station in the cabin.

You can borrow movies and music from the concierge for use in your cabin.

You will have robes in your cabin, I can't recall if there are slippers or not.

The bedding is Frette and lovely. Your cabin steward will ask what type sof pillows you'd like and bring them to you.

There is a private sun deck which is blissfully quiet.

The concierge level is gated which makes it very quiet.

I know there is more, but that's a start. I don't think we'd ever cruise DCL if we couldn't be in a concierge room.

Great list from Ducklite!

The concierge will also take care of all of your requests such as dining (Remy and Palo) and all of your spa activities. I have never had them tell me what time anything was available, they simply ask what time I would prefer.

You also have priority if a port is using a tender.

and.......everywhere that you use your room key for charging, the staff seems to add that little bit extra Disney magic.

The Fantasy .

Excellent! And if it is worth it or not: to us it is worth every penny. No stress, no scheduling issues, just pure easy cruising. The really nice thing about the Fantasy is that it will include the concierge lounge which is really a wonderful oasis of extras. Buy the concierge stateroom and never look back.

Have a great time. I forgot to mention that when you book really early, and then amortize the monthly cost, that the additional cost for the concierge level is really very manageable.

BUT......make sure that you have paid for the cruise earlier than the date specified on your contract, because at 120 days before the sail date all of the fully paid concierge level rooms are eligible for full concierge assistance for the cruise. This is a really great perk, and quite frankly I was stunned when Disney called me before the 120 mark to ask what they could do for me.

Excellent service and it makes us feel like we are really part of the cruise while still at home.

Thanks everyone for your post. If there is anything more you remember please let me know. Do you know if you have priority of getting off the boat first when it docks at castaway or any of the other islands?

I believe you do, although we were never in a rush to get off first so I'm not sure.

Don't know about the east coast procedures, but on the Wonder Mexican Riviera cruises the concierge escorts the concierge suite guests to a special tender location for concierge guests only. When you're ready to go ashore you just call the concierge and they escort you down to the tender location. I was surprised that DCL doesn't use their own tenders in Mexico; it's a contract operation with the locals.
