Bad~Papa Posted January 22, 2012 #1 Share Posted January 22, 2012 Hello, all. 1st post. Title pretty much says it. Going on a Carnival cruise and would like to be ready for their rules. Thanks.
SunnyCosmo Posted January 24, 2012 #2 Share Posted January 24, 2012 Were going 1/29 on Carnival and its been a while. But count on the "worst"...Dealer hits soft 17. No "re-splitting", or for sure no re-splitting aces, double down on 10 or 11 only. BJ pays 6-5. They thankfully dont win a push but otherwise its not good...still better than slots tho. Bad~Papa Posted January 24, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted January 24, 2012 I can live with hitting soft 17 as that's what I'm used to. Not crazy about doubling on 10 & 11 only, but 6-5 payoff on bj is not acceptable unless its the only game in town. Would that be on single deck games (if they even offer them) or for all? By the way, we also happen to be leaving on the 29th.
jbanana1 Posted January 25, 2012 #4 Share Posted January 25, 2012 I don't play much blackjack because they use Conituous Shuffler Machines but do play some and have had 3-2 bj payout. They do offer the other kind of bj where both dealers cards are face up (don't remember what it's called) - I think those bj payouts are 6-5 but not sure. Also, have read on this forum that many, if not all, Carnival ships now have automated (dealerless) blackjack tables like the poker pro tables. Lady_Gamecock Posted January 25, 2012 #5 Share Posted January 25, 2012 Not that I'm trying to offset playing aboard ship, but don't forget, depending on what Port stops you're making, a lot of Caribbean Ports have casinos that are for International Guests, so take your passport with you for Entrance. I know that going to a casino while in a lovely port might not be your cup of tea, but it's just another solution. :D
Bad~Papa Posted January 25, 2012 Author #6 Share Posted January 25, 2012 Continuous shuffle? Don't really want anything to do with that. jbanana1 Posted January 26, 2012 #7 Share Posted January 26, 2012 That's why I mostly play craps on the cruise ship with just a little bit of video poker and blackjack thrown in.

Nice to know that other's plan their vacations around Casinos like I do. :D It is tough though with an 19-month old and a 5 yr old in tow. Thankfully, we travel with Grandparents. HA HA HA. Actual rules are - Double down on any two cards, split up to 3 times (ie 4 hands), Blackjack pays 3-2, Dealer hits soft 17, continuous shufflers, Electronic Blackjack on some ships but only in addition to regular tables being open.
