Pictures Posted Adventure of the Seas Eastern

I've posted pictures from our January 08-15 cruise on Adventure of the Seas. I did not get off the ship in St Thomas or Aruba, so there are no pictures of those ports. The pictures are best viewed in a slideshow.

Hi Jean -

Your pictures are wonderful! Thanks for sharing!

It looks like you did the same route that we will be on. Can you tell me when the Formal Nights were? I would think Monday and...

Thanks again!

Great photos as usual, Jean. BTW, I never gave you proper thanks for your wonderful port guide to Ravenna that you e-mailed me last fall when we were on the Voyager. I had it printed out in full color...and left it on the ship the day we were there!! Luckily we ran into one of our CC friends in town. They were finishing up sightseeing and kindly lent us their copy of your guide, thereby saving our afternoon. We followed it faithfully and had a fantastic visit in Ravenna. Thank you very much! (the church with the fish in the basement was my favorite :D)

Okay....I hope I am doing this right. First of all thanks for all the wonderful pictures. I am planning a cruise for my hubbies 70th birthday (young & active 70 year old) March 2013. There will be sixteen of us....our 30-40 year old adult kids and grandkids from 4 to 14. They have never been on a cruise before.

We were on the Freedom in 2008 and felt it was a little too big and was wondering how you would compare Adventure to Freedom. I did not think the Adult pool on Freedom was as nice as some other ships we have been on. We have been on three Celebrity and three RCL cruises.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks again for sharing the pictures!

Thank you for the nice complements on my pictures. I'm glad you enjoyed them. Once reason I like to take pictures of the entire ship is because they are hard to find and someone is always asking about the ship.

dln929 . . . I'm glad you enjoyed Ravenna and was glad to read that my self-guided walking tour helped make it a great port for you. I also loved the fish at the church, but my favorite was San Vitale with those incredible mosaics.

jalcruise . . . Adventure of the Seas is smaller than Freedom but the two ships have a similar layout. The pool is the same on both ships, although the Freedom pool is larger. The solarium pool was a nice place for adults. Your younger grandchildren will enjoy Adventure Ocean pool and the kids program. Embarkation is very slow--be prepared to wait. We arrived early and it took us an hour to get down the road to the terminal and then more than an hour to get processed and onboard. You have to drag your luggage through the waiting line outside. The terminal is locked until everyone is off the ship, and then it's locked again once the first 100-150 people are in the terminal. By 1:00 p.m., the line waiting to be processed was very long. It's a cumbersome process in San Juan vs other ports. There is no place to get water or anything to eat in the port area, although someone was selling water while we waited in the line outside. It can be difficult if anyone in your party has an issue with standing for long periods of time. No wheelchairs were available to people waiting outside, so make arrangements ahead if anyone needs assistance.

We took a private tour in St Kitts. Our guide was Henry Williams. He escorted us on the tour of Romney Manor and at Brimstone Fortress, so we weren't left to just wander around. His historical knowledge was amazing and made the fortress come alive. At the end of the tour, he dropped several people off at the beach, took six of us back to the ship, and then returned to pick up those who stayed at the beach. Very accommodating and a true gentleman!

Jean,

Your photos are excellent, what kind of camera did you use?

Totally enjoyed seeing "our" day in St Kitts thru your camera lens. Sure was a great day....thanks for suggesting this tour......we really enjoyed our day and meeting the two of you. Would love for you to email me the photo you took of the 4 of us.....I just don't know how to leave my email address for you.

One day we'll be in Concord and we'll meet again......till then.....happy and safe travels!

Very nice. Interested in St. kitts. How did you get around/cost?

I was also on the same tour as Jean. Was a wonderful day, never felt rushed, I would recommend you consider them for your time in St. Kitts. We were back at the ship early enough to clean up and go back into town for an hour. A great day for sure!
