St. John-What am I missing?

About 75% of St. John is National Park. So the island is the attraction as the forest, beaches are undeveloped. You can go hiking, to the beach, visit historical plantation ruins and thats about it. If you want to shop, drink, eat you can do that in Cruz Bay or Coral Bay - there are neat little shops, great bars/restaurants. If you want to rent a dinghy and beach hop on your own, do dive classes, rent jet skis, parasail, kayak, windsurf you can do all those things too.

Driving around the island is fun.

I haven't been to that many places, but St. John is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. I really got a kick out of the signs in the restrooms at one of the gorgeous beaches that read "Do not wash feet in sinks." Wesley Eastley was our guide several years ago, and he seemed to know everything about the flora and fauna and history and beaches. Hope I can go back to "sahn-zhan" again someday. (just thinkin' 'bout it makes me happy)
