Silhouette Main Dining Room

:DHi there

Hope someone out there can help me with this one

Has anyone had experience of the upper tier of the Main Dining room on Solstice class ships ?

We were in Blu last trip and only visited the MDR once and found it very noisy.

We wondered if the upper tier was any quieter or if anyone has suggestions for a quieter area....we are a group of six and a couple have hearing problems .

Have found that if we wait till we board we get the Maitre'D shrug

so would like to request with our T/A.

Thanks in advance............

We were in a "nook" just around the corner from the front entrance on the lower level, and were therefore away from the central part of the dining room and it was quiet there, but at times we could still hear some of the "buzz" from elsewhere in teh dining room. That being said, it was never so loud that we couldn't converse (or eavesdrop on our neighbours - lol, kidding!).

Have fun.;)

The Solstice Class MDR's are rather noisy but that is a function of how busy they are. Think of a noisy canteen and you will have the picture.

This should not be confused with the engine noise that the Century Class suffer from and can vary a lot depending upon where you sit.

There is some noise but its not deafening, you can hold a conversation.

That area is usually for select dining. Up to 6 weeks before you cruise you can on line select the type of table you want and the times you want it each day.

If you give them sufficient notice they will try to accommodate that, but they do need to be pre warned about it first.

We had table 322 on the lower level on Silhouette. It was a table for 6 away from the main center area and it was fairly quiet and that is why we liked it. It was much more quiet than the middle area. I would recommend it in that regard. Our waitstaff was also nice.

Hi Hassop

When we were on Equinox 2010, we found the upper tier was for 'open dining', and lower deck for the Set Dinner ie 6.30 8.30,.

If you are 'set' you can alway pop along to the MDR on your arrival day

with your card left in the state room stating your table number and have a look at its position, and change then.

On our first trip on Solstice before Open dining we were top floor and in an alcove section opposite end from the entrance so

no thru traffic very quiet so nice spot number 568 and window position :)

We were a 3 on a 4 next to another 4 :) quite easy to push the two together. There was from memory about 15 - 20 tables tops in this area,

of varying sizes, but the Window was great as sailing summer time around the Eastern Med.

Hope you can get the table you want...this is one of the reasons we always book AQ...the quiet...

Yes we thoroughly enjoyed that last time but not an option this trip as we are travelling with family and DG/Son.......:D
